How wonderfully reassuring to hear Stew Hoagland's voice in December when he offered without a moment's hesitation to pinch-hit as guest secretary. Stew, I appreciate your writing the January notes and your good wishes. I'm happy about a quick recovery and getting back in harness again.

Even though Bill Harris is officially retired from American Express, he has never retired from lecturing. He was busy lecturing all over the world in 1976, right up to November, and will be off again in January to lecture on the Rotterdam World Cruise. Last July he encountered the largest group yet of Dartmouth people on a cruise. It was on the Norwegian America Line's Sagafjord's North Cape Cruise, and at the end of the journey he celebrated the occasion with a 1928 party for Col. Henry and Helen Fowler '17, Mrs. Josh Davis (Josh was Class of' 27), Jonathan and Dorothy Rintels '27, Trunkie and Ruth Brittan '29, Lytton and Olive Johnston '29, and John and Jeanne Weeks '44.

All '2Bers and wives are urged to attend the '28 dinner in Boca Raton on February 28, as previously mentioned in the class notes and the newsletter. Bruce Lewis is chairman; write him at his new address, 11216 Turtle Beach Road, North Palm Beach, Fla. 33408, or call him at 305/622-2828.

The Skinners wish we could join the Boca Raton party, but our March 12 reservation for the auto train was made six months ago, and it is hopeless to try to change it.

Don Solis and George Klein have the Dartmouth East Coast group meetings scheduled. Be sure to call Don to give '28ers your address at your earliest opportunity: 3394 Dartmouth Lane, Sarasota, 813/922-9167.

George Davis and Bill Morton are playing a lot of tennis in Naples, Fla., and working on the 50th reunion. George is signing up regional reunion chairmen and tapped Sherm Baketel for Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Sherm and Marie move in October, before the snow arrives in New Castle, N.H., and spend the winter at 98 Pearl St., Englewood, Fla. Sherm had a card from R. L. Clark and Polly giving an address in Venice, Fla.

Wat Dickerman is an authority on unusual cruises to any part of the world if you ever want any advice. He tipped us off a few years ago to a fascinating and very inexpensive Adriatic cruise from Piraeus to Trieste on a Yugoslav ship. His latest was early in the fall (Eleanor was visiting relatives in Oklahoma) on an American Cruise Line ship with 50 passengers — pleasant elderly people from all over the country. They cruised along the New England coast for 11 days, visiting places such as Greenpoint, L.I., Sandwich, Mass., Boothbay Harbor and Wiscasset, Me., Newport, R.I., and Block Island, near Haddam, Conn., on the return trip.

Tim and Virginia Paige take a prize when it comes to getting a beautiful Christmas picture of the entire family — all 20 of them and all smiling. How do you manage the smiling bit? Bill and Bobby Morton have another great picture of a whole family — all 17 of them.

Curly and Allene Prosser left Canaan, N.H., directly after Christmas for the sunshine of California.

Johnny Stone of Montpelier, Vt., is leaving January 15 for a ten-day visit to England with a group from the American Trial Lawyers Association.

Word has been received of the passing of Monk Davenport on November 12 and of JackAhern on December 2. Also, Lura Baldwin Hassell, who had been married to Art Hassell for 35 years, died October 30. The Class extends its deepest sympathy to their families.

Jack and Fran Kenerson had two good weeks in Spain despite rain on the plain (Madrid and Seville). However, Costa del Sol and Sotogrande made up for the rain with great golf and good food.
