John and Peggy Phillips expect to go to Europe in May, a change from their usual vacations in the Virgin Islands.
Craig Haines and Ev Fields of Southbury, Conn., decided to go "calling" on a fine winter afternoon recently. Their first stop was to see Paul Annable at his plant on the edge of Danbury Airport. He runs a job shop for metal working with half a dozen employes and has the satisfaction of making things involving special engineering. He has his own plane parked next to his plant and has been instrumental in guiding the development of the Danbury Airport.
Their next stop was Wingdale, N.Y., on Rt. 22 not far from Danbury, where they visited EdCollins, who was looking well and very happy to see them. Babe Shaw had sent Ed an Aegis for which he was grateful.
Elliott Donnelley was back in Lake Forest, Ill., in February for some medical treatments but looks forward to returning to Florida March 15 for a month and some fishing.
After having been burned out of their former offices in Buffalo, Sam Magavern's law firm now has offices in its own building at 20 Cathedral Park, Buffalo.
Sam reports that Frank Tindle's widow Jan is living at 337 Greenwood Garden Villas, Greenwood Drive, Sea Plantation, Hilton Head Island, S.C. She will spend summers at her home on Windmill Point, Ridgeway, Ontario.
Cal Billings sent us the December issue of Yankee magazine containing an article called "The Spy Who Came Home on the Gripsholm" by a Vermonter who had been teaching in Japan before the war. One of the illustrations was a picture of the ten Dartmouth alumni who were among the 1500 ex-prisoners coming home on the Gripsholm. The two youngest were JerryWarner and Chris Livingston.
Three years ago Jo Brew retired as Professor of Anthropology at Harvard, but accepted an appointment as "Distinguished Visiting Professor" at Southern Methodist University at Dallas. A note says, "I shall return to Cambridge in January 1976 for a third attempt at retiring."
Cal and Genie Billings drove over from West Hartford to Heritage Village for a visit with Craig and Eleanor Haines. Their son Sam Billings '70 is the landscape architect for the Town of West Springfield, Mass. Cal is still working in his office in Hartford (real estate financing) and has three young associates.
Wat Dickerman sent us a card that he and Eleanor are looking forward to the mini-reunion in Norwich this fall.
Ken Robbie moved last summer from New Jersey to Mason Village, a tiny community 20 miles west of downtown St. Louis. He has a couple of interests there besides the great one of being within five miles of his daughter and her husband and their three children.
Phil Orsi suffered a heart attack in May and another in October but recovered before Christmas, although he has his orders such as no unnecessary stair climbing, no car driving, and no raking leaves. He says the days fly by with reading, his stamp hobby, shopping, visits to his doctor, etc. He was disturbed because he had lost his Green Book when he and Helen moved to Westbury, Long Island, but we were able to find an extra copy for him.
A card from Harvey and Betsey Fisher says they have children on both coasts so have an ideal arrangement of winters in California and summers in Maine.
