Eight members of the Class of 1911 came back to Hanover for the 65th Reunion. They were reinforced by the attendance of one wife, three widows and seven guests. The classmates represented were Ken Clark, True Dudley, WeeKimball, John Learoyd, John Scotford and wife,Henry Smith and guest, Carl Waterbury, and Windy Winship. The returning widows were Marian Agry, Dorothy Gooding and KaeSanderson. Guests included the John Goodings and the John Detlefsons (both Dartmouth graduates and members of Dorothy Gooding's family) and Warren F. Kimball Jr. '44 and wife. Don Cheney, who had made all arrangements for attending, met with a last minute emergency that put him in the hospital and subsequent surgery (a late report indicates that he is making a good recovery). Elizabeth Clark incurred an accident which required hospitalization, preventing her attendance and reducing the time that Ken was able to spend at reunion. ElsieKimball was able to make a brief appearance at lunch on Saturday.

Class headquarters were in Function Room 112 at the Inn, a pleasant, spacious and convenient location where most activities took place. A student aide, Carol Muller '77, was in attendance throughout our stay and gave us most efficient service, including transportation to various points on several occasions.

Our social hours on Friday and Saturday nights were made more enjoyable by the presence of honored guests from more recent generations. On Friday evening, Bradford Agry '76', grandson' of Marian, and his parents Mr. and Mrs. Warren C. Agry Jr. '45 were with us for cocktails and joined us for dinner in Thayer Hall. On Saturday we were hosts to Nancy Hedges '76, granddaughter of "Cap" Hedges '11, and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Horace G. Hedges Jr. '45. The Hedges were with us only for the social hour and were unable to remain for dinner, which was served in the Function Room. Incidentally, both Brad and Nancy graduated "cum laude" and "with distinction in their respective major subjects. Doubtless, this is a definite scholastic advance over the records of their 1911 forebears.

On Saturday morning a class meeting was held at headquarters, following an earlier treeplanting ceremony on the lawn of Wentworth Hall, in memory of Bill Gooding, for many years superintendent of buildings and grounds at Dartmouth. In the absence of Don Cheney, Wee Kimball read the treasurer's report showing that the class treasury has cash and savings in excess of $3,400. Henry Smith acting for the nominating committee presented the names of eight nominees to serve as members of the executive committee for the next five years. They were Allison, Burtt, Cheney, Clark, Kimball,Learoyd, Parker, and Winship. They were duly elected. Ken Clark reported that there had been no change in the recipient of the Samson Occom Indian Scholarship under the 1911 Permanent Fund from that awarded last year. A memorial service was conducted by the Rev. John Scotford for the 43 classmates who passed away during the last five years. At the conclusion of the class meeting a group picture was taken in the Function Room.

Saturday noon the members of the 1911 party were luncheon guests of the College in the dining room of the Inn. This was followed by the annual meeting of the General Alumni Association in Hopkins Center.

No class activities were scheduled for Sunday. 1911 was accorded the distinction of heading the alumni procession preceding the Commencement exercises. As some members had made early departures this function was assumed by Dudley, Learoyd and Winship. As the line of march proceeded along Baker Lawn, to the applause of a large assembled audience, it brought a thrill that only a long life tenure and a near 70-year association with Dartmouth could

produce. Pleasant weather (except for Friday night showers) favored us throughout the three-day sojourn. As the 65th reunion of the Class of 1911 ended, it was the general consensus that it had been an enjoyable and meaningful gathering, which served to foster the ties that have kept us together for so many years and may, hopefully, "endure for the years ahead.
