Having just returned from the monthly meeting of the Dartmouth Club of Cape Cod, I would like to pass along a couple of observations: First, anyone who does not have the opportunity to take part in a Dartmouth Club is missing something. It is a lot of satisfaction to meet with one's own classmates and those of other classes. Second, it is always good to see such a sizeable representation from our own class at the Cape Cod meeting; today Brad Stafford, Dick Henry, Roly Barker, Norm Everett, and your scribe were there, Ken Christophe, usually in attendance, being among the missing because of health problems.
An exhibition of Vermont watercolors by StuEldredge and Dick Morin and sculpture by Mary Eldredge was recently held in the Plymouth General Store in Plymouth, Vt. The Class should be proud to have two such outstanding artists as members.
John Loeb, considered one of Wall Street's "Old Guard," has again assumed the responsibility of chief executive officer of the Loeb, Rhodes Group and Loeb, Rhodes and Company.
Your secretary and newsletter editor work together in passing along news of the Class, and I am sure I speak for Sam in thanking all of you who reply to the birthday cards which he so conscientiously sends to all members of the Class. Here are some recent items which he has passed along to me.
Doug Craig reports that he was in Scottsdale in the spring. He had hoped to see Ed Streater in Tucson but was not able to do so as it was at the time that Ed broke his leg. Doug and Doris expect to go to Tucson again this winter.
Les Sycamore, writing from his summer home in Laconia, N.H., says they are moving from their home in Palm Bay to a mobile home community in DeLand, Fla. He comments that DeLand is a beautiful city and the home of Stetson University. They look forward to simpler and easier living.
Kay Stilling is enjoying retired life in McLean, Va., having lived there for forty years with a few exceptions.
Leo Stone, writing from Bonnie Oaks, where he and his wife spent the month of August, is still in full-time practice along with teaching and writing.
Stan Curtis, writes from Vero Beach, Fla. (prior to leaving for a couple of months in Connecticut and New Hampshire), that he maintains his youthful vigor by keeping active and associating with younger people. (Note: At our age it isn't hard to find people who are younger.)
Dana Haskin is another classmate who, in spite of a recent but fortunately brief hospital stay, maintains an active life in the real estate business, in partnership with his wife Marguerite.
, We regret to report the death of Tom Flint on September 7, and George Spargo on September 16. George died as the result of a fire in his home, and three days later his wife Dorothy was ,'found dead of natural causes.
We regret that it is not possible to report anything on the fall weekend which will have come and gone by the time you read this. But you will hear about it later from both Sam and me.
