Old ’44 really filled-the-bowl-up October 22 when Cornell came to town. We turned out by the thousands, including wives, children, and the family St. Bernards, to watch the fray and join the fun. Too many names to print, of course, including the class executive committee which met seven-strong to discuss weighty matters and congratulate each other on being classmates.

Beyond turning up another $2,000 to continue the Class handrail project and turning down the idea of producing a ’44 necktie, the big com- mittee decision was the unanimous approval of Tom Miner, Plainfield, N.J., insurance king- pin, as reunion chairman. That’s our 35th in 1980, yes, 1980. Mark your calendars. And while you’re marking, note that our 1978 fall football weekend is October 13-14 when the Yale Blues come to the Green. Again, 30 rooms at the Chalet in White River and the DOC House Saturday evening. t r- , , i An / * 1

If you want to put your 1936 Mercedes phaeton back in shape, get tips from Darien pediatrician Dave Brown, one of whose hobbies is restoring old Mercedeses. He’s also a hunter/trader/trapper and gets in at least one round of tennis every weekend. He and Dottie have a summer camp in Port Clyde, Maine, a married daughter in Philly, a landscape architect son in California, and a second son who is a radio announcer in Stamford, Conn.

Poking around the Parthenon at the end of October were Hap and Mary Bush, part of a Dartmouth charter flight which spent a week in the land of feta and black olives.

Huzzah and hurray for geologist Dick Meyer who last June was presented a Meritorious Ser- vice Award, the second highest honor bestowed by the U.S. Department of the Interior, for “significant contributions to research programs of the U.S. Geological Survey and the develop- ment and management of energy resource programs and information systems.”

Down the road a piece, in Brattleboro, EricBarradale, D.M.D., has been appointed a member of a joint committee set up by the Dart- mouth Medical School and the Brattleboro Retreat to provide overall supervision of educational and clinical programs the two in- stitutions will undertake in 1977-78. Nice coin- cidence: Dartmouth is the country’s fourth oldest med school and the Retreat is the coun- try’s fourth oldest psychiatric hospital.

We were pleased to discover this past summer that A 1 Barrett’s son Allan ’7l is the assistant director of public relations for the Baltimore Orioles.

Class treasurer Bill Craig has been named a director of the U.S. Industrial Council.

This caught our eye in the Washington Post: sale of D.C.’s Fairfax Hotel and its restaurants, the Jockey Club and the Sea Catch, by the Gore family to a Chicago industrialist. And listed, by gorry, as one of the four Gore children, is JamesGore of forty-four.

Nice talk with Dick Revenaugh, who has been with the John Stevens Insurance Agency in Bridgeport, Conn., for 31 years and is now president. With the kids gone, he and Ginny moved a couple of years back from Bridgeport to Fairfield. “Our last move ever,” according to Dick. “We’re right on the water and it’s great. I gave up golf for tennis and tennis it is every weekend.” Sons Rich and John are both married, and in construction and insurance, respectively; son Dave, who broke all Wesleyan football rushing records, is on the West Coast, writing; and daughter Michelle is in real estate in D.C.

Also on the move in October were Warrenand Adele Kimball, from Pleasantville, N.Y., to 'West Hartford, Conn., primarily as a result of :the merger between Warren’s insurance agency I in White Plains with the Fred S. James & Cos. agency in Hartford. Incidentally, Warren’s father, Wee Kimball ’ll, was out cutting another cord of firewood at his Contoocook, N.H., home when he was informed, at the tender age of 89, that he had to come to Dart- mouth November 4 to receive one of the College’s coveted Alumni Council Awards. He almost, but not quite, jogged the 40 miles to Hanover.

In town that same weekend for the fall Club Officers’ gathering were A 1 and Jean Winkler, public information chairman for the Southeastern Connecticut club, and Jack andVinnie Jenness, enrollment liaison officer for the Long Island club.

Warmest and Best for the Holidays. That’s it. Blessings.
