Having been recognized as the 152nd Alumni Club of the College, the Dartmouth Club of Western Canada held its inaugural meeting on July 20, 1977, at the Winnipeg home of A. S.“Si” Leach Sr. ’31. The first order of business was to confirm the election of officers: Honorary Chairman, A. S. Leach Sr. ’31; President, Dave Hill ’71; Vice-President, Gord Miles’76; Secretary, Chris Hodgson ’76; Treasurer, Don Dixon ’75; and Corresponding Secretary, Dr. Dwight Parkinson ’38. The remaining charter members of the club include A. S.“Gus” Leach Jr. ’60 and Gerry Parkinson '6B.

The evening’s discussions centered around the role which our club could play in strengthening enrollment, job placement, and communication between potential applicants to the College, un- dergraduates, and alumni not only in the im- mediate Winnipeg and Manitoba area, but also from the coastal shores of British Columbia to the city of Thunder Bay in Ontario. Once a for- mal mailing list is obtained of all those alumni living west of Thunder Bay, it was proposed to establish contact with each alumnus, in the hope that lines of communication can be established throughout the western half of Canada to facilitate the main objects of the club, and, where possible, to promote the establishment of local alumni clubs in metropolitan areas other than Winnipeg.
