Club President of the Year
NOVEMBER 1966

At the annual meeting of the Dartmouth Club Officers in Hanover on September 24, Cornwall Miller '39 (1), president of the Dartmouth Club of Southeastern Connecticut, received the award as Club President of the Year. In making the award J. Michael McGean '49 (r), Secretary of the College, read the following citation:

For nearly fifteen years the Dartmouth Club of Southeastern Connecticut was dormant, waiting to be reawakened with a new sense of purpose. Two years ago you and several other alumni set about to rekindle interest in the Dartmouth Club of Southeastern Connecticut and to prove that a reorganized Dartmouth Club could serve the College.

Under your leadership as President, the Club has now completed two highly successful years. Your first meeting attracted over one hundred people and your second year has shown that such interest can be sustained. You now have a full program which also includes a unique annual outing to coincide with the finish of the Ledyard Canoe Club Connecticut River Trip. Your members are on hand to greet the Dartmouth undergraduates as they reach Long Island Sound,

You are not a newcomer to club activities, for from 1946 to 1949 you served the Dartmouth Club of Philadelphia as Secretary. You learned what it takes to produce good results. Your intensive telephone campaigns before meetings have shown what a few willing workers can do for a common cause.

A noted yachtsman, you are New England Manager for Conover-Nast Publications, Inc.; you also find time to play a role in numerous community activities. In other words you lead a useful and busy life. We are delighted that you have found more time for Dartmouth as we now use our time wisely to designate you Club President of the Year.
