Many of us had a difficult choice about October 11 - Harvard Law School scheduled our 45th reunion the same weekend, and kept Charlie Bartlett, Hank Bayless, Dud Bonsai, Larry Duncan and Shorty Oliver in Cambridge. Paul Revere O'Connell signed up for both reunions!

Larry Scammon, our emergency back-up man for all jobs and the class liaison with Dick Hall's House, is having a slow recovery from a heart valve operation in July and had to miss his first reunion in 16 years. In fact, in September he was back in Massachusetts General Hospital with a lung infection, but under wife Ora's care, he says he is gradually on the mend. We all send our best wishes to Larry.

Also on the sick list is Ed Ruth who has had a stroke and is now in Carlmont Convalescent Hospital in Belmont, California. According to Bruce McKennon, he is unable to talk or walk and is partially paralyzed. Ed's wife Doris died last June from cancer.

Bruce McKennon reports he talked to BillNeilson who lives on Maui when the McKennons spent their vacation in Hawaii. Bill said he visited Pittsburgh last year and saw George Provost and Nate Parker '26.

From Juneau, Alaska, came a letter from Ed Jacob who said he and Dorothy sold their Downeaster Seafoods, Inc., in Maine to a Dartmouth man in Portland, so they kicked up.their heels and headed west by plane and train to Vancouver, and then took a cruise of the inside passage to Alaska. But they will fly back to Philadelphia and check things at West Chester before heading for Florida again.

Fifty-one members of the Class, plus three memorial gifts, contributed this year to The Dartmouth Educational Association which makes student loans.

Jack Sheldon reports from Arizona that he will be coming to the 50th Reunion in June, 1977. He says Spencer Cook goes back to Rochester each summer, and he will check him out when he returns to Tucson.

Lee Gore of Ogdenburg, N.Y., retired at the end of 1972, but is still serving as a trustee of the Savings Bank. He and Dottie spend their winters at Vero Beach, Fla., where he enjoys swimming and golf. They hope to make the 50th.

Hilton Head Island, S.C., enticed Houston Gray to sell out completely in Des Moines. He expects to stay in Carolina until they move him out horizontally. He figures each day now is gravy, and he is enjoying every one.

Chuck Field has concentrated his retirement activities on Westchester, Illinois, projects such as the Red Cross blood donor and the Kiwanis Club Scholarship programs. One of the latter top awards went to a student who is now a sophomore at Dartmouth. Chuck's children are all doing very well and keep him on the go.

We are sorry to report the deaths of James H.Rich June 7, Robert H. Fall Jr., June 22, EdwinH. Miner, August 31 and H. Edward Baker, October 3, W. Brownell Freeman, September 27; Horace Edward Baker, October 2; and RoyalBlanchard, October 4.
