Ski buffs will welcome a second double chair lift at the Dartmouth Skiway, authorized by the Trustees at their winter meeting and due to be installed by the start of the 1977-78 season.

The quarter-million dollar facility, to be financed partly through gifts and partly by investment amortized over 20 years, will replace the pomalift which has been operating since the skiway opened in 1956. The old lift, second of its kind in the East, has provided more than four million rides up Holts Ledge, Howard F. Chivers '39, the skiway manager, estimates. The new chair lift will increase capacity to the Holts Ledge trails from about 700 to 1,100 per hour, Chivers said.
