Fall is returning to Chicago, and with it comes a heavy mailbag of class news. In particular, the summer months brought a flurry of weddings, including the following:

Baxter Lanius married Deborah Leeds Dayton on June 10 at Lloyd Harbor, L.I. In attendance was the entire family of PeterKneisel, who with his wife came all the way from Bangkok, Thailand. Other '72s at the wedding were Rick Proctor and Tony Schenck. A number of other Big Greeners from various classes were also present. Baxter is an attorney with Dewey, Ballantine, Bushby, Palmer & Wood in New York City, where CharlesChehebar is also an associate.

Roger Louder married Brender Karen Larsen on July 1 in Hamden, Conn. They are living in Twin Falls, Idaho, where Roger is employed with his family's heating and refrigeration company. Robert Kefferstan and Christine Bane were wed on July 1 in Cincinnati. Bob is completing doctoral work at Northwestern University, and his wife is pursuing a doctoral degree in musical arts.

Also married were Paul Wheeler and Maureen Kane on May 27 in Enosburg Falls, Vt. Paul is a nursing student at the University of Vermont, where his wife is a graduate student in computer science.

Recent engagements include Roger Poor and Judy Holmes; Thomas Christian and Valerie Anne Labun; and Roger Thrall to Jo Ann Kruzshak.

On the sports scene, Eric Evans won his ninth U.S. white-water kayak slalom championship (also his eighth consecutive win) on the Nantahala River in North Carolina. Eric was the subject of a Sports Illustrated article in June, which described the 800-meter course as "one of fiendish difficulty." Presently an editor with Nordic Ski Magazine in Brattleboro, Vt., Eric is preparing for the world championship in Jonquiere, Quebec.

Former all-Ivy League and all-New England soccer player Wayne Pirmann has been named head soccer coach at Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. Wayne previously was soccer coach at Birmingham Groves High School in Birmingham, Mich.

Recent job transferees are Bryant Toth, who with his wife Jill has moved from San Francisco to Boston to assume a residency in orthopedic surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dave Mitchell has moved. from Chicago to Puerto Rico to work in the fermentation and development division at Abbot Laboratories there.

Recently promoted were Greg Gaertner, who became an assistant professor of sociology at Bucknell University, and Charles Merrill, who was named as instructor of foreign languages and literature at Hood College. GeorgeButterworth was appointed to the staff of Nantucket Cottage Hospital as a general practitioner and obstetrician. Robert Forman has been elected a fellow of the Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is presently a senior accountant for Arthur Andersen & Co. in Boston.

Other news-makers include Edwin Bayrd, now living in New York, who recently published a diet book entitled The Thin Game, and Alan Lovell, who with his wife Sandy owns and operates a cookie bakery in Kennebunkport, Me. Donald Hooper was recently awarded a master of science degree in industrial administration from Union College. Rand Alexander is an investment counselor, and lives with his wife Christine in Houston.

In Hanover, Dan Chodos directed a theatrical production for the Dartmouth Players Repertory Company's summer season.

Now working at Joseph E. Seagram Co. and living in New York City is Jeff Wallace. Jeff is in the international side of the treasurer's department there with responsibility for the financing of European wine affiliates, and operations in the United Kingdom and Japan.

Phil Gioia is now a resident physician in public health at the Albany County, New York, health department. He writes that the experience has enhanced his knowledge of public health practices and has enabled him to assist local physicians.
