Spring should be on its way by now to much of the country, but Chicago seems locked into winter until July. Brightening up the otherwise dreary scene these days is the latest batch of class news.

Dave Hazelett writes that he and his wife Amy are living in Burlington, Vt., where Dave is an attorney.

Bill Enos and Pamela E. Parkinson have recently become engaged. Bill, who graduated from George Washington University Medical School in Washington, D.C., is currently a pathology resident at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. His fiancee is a graduate of Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. They plan a late summer wedding.

Peter Benziger was married to Margie Howe in Franklin, Mass., in January. Peter is presently the Caribbean export manager for Cheesebrough-Ponds Corporation of Greenwich, Conn. His wife, a graduate of Boston University, most recently was a legislative aide to former U.S. Senator Edward W. Brooke of Massachusetts. They plan to reside in Santurce, Puerto Rico.

Perhaps the most interesting item in some time comes from the parents of Bill Neely who, with Woody McGinnis '73, is in Peru practicing medicine at the Hospital General in Argentina. They also visit medical outposts organized by the hospital staff. One of Bill's letters contains the following description of their exploits:

"We arrived in Huanca after a rough four- hour bus ride over dirt roads. We were met by one of the nuns in the convent who showed us to our 'visiting priest' quarters, and shortly we went to work after a good breakfast - the bus left at 5 a.m. We worked a little in the town of Huanca, then got on mules for a perilous trip over high passes and questionable trails to Murco. Murco was slightly more rustic with about 200 people. After a hard clinic where at times we had more dogs than patients, we went to sleep on the floor of the clinic (dirt) on llama skins and ponchos amidst the numerous mice. I slept fairly well, only awakened once by the nun pissing in the chamberpot next to the bed - a very close-knit group. Then back to Huanco (which is at 11,000') and more clinic.

"Next back on the horses to Taya, 12,000', and Mocha, 13,000'. This time we had a national guard escort who, with his greatcoat, hat and flashy mount, at times reminded me of Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls. Taya is completely cut off during the rainy season, since even horses and people can't make it over the paths. Also no electricity, plumbing, etc. anywhere.

"The work was great. We delivered some great care, much needed, and it was inspiring."

Another South American traveler is RickWahlstrom, who with his wife Lucia recently moved back to Brookings, S.D., after nearly three years in Brazil. Their son Marcel was born in Rio de Janeiro in December 1977. Currently Rick is dividing his time between graduate school, substitute teaching, and job hunting.

David Mechlin has moved back to the United States from Frankfurt and now lives in New York where he works with Compton Advertising U.S. on the.Proctor and Gamble account.

Skip Hancock is still living in Brookline, Mass. and working for John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company as a systems analyst.

Last May Ned Dripps married Ronda Barnes, who is a 1972 graduate of Florida State University. They presently are living jn Landerhill, Fla. Another new husband is Richard Godbold, who was married to Cathy Griggs on February 24. He was recently promoted to the position of administrator, curator of the Western Graphics Lithography shop in Albuquerque, N.M.

Presently in the Windy City with his wife is Gary Gulezian, who is employed by the Environmental Protection Agency here. He graduated last year from the Harvard School of Public Health with a master's degree in environmental health sciences. Gary visited Bill Weston in Germany in the summer of 1977 and saw Tom Byron in Chicago last summer when he attended a prosthetics convention.

Neale Duffett recently completed five years in the Navy and is now a second-year law student at the University of Maine.

Most of the class movie fans have probably seen Animal House, which, according to Pete Aresen, was probably "filmed at Psi U, Thumpty Dump or the Nu Lodge." Pete writes that he is "still in Boston, awaiting the arrival of our first child and slugging away at medical school."

Chuck Schudson, his wife Karen, and their two-year-old son Benjamin, are living in Shorewood, Wise., a suburb of Milwaukee. Chuck is a special prosecutor for the U.S. Government, specializing in white-collar crimes, including Medicaid fraud. I had the opportunity to stay with them in February while attending a weekend Alumni College seminar in Milwaukee.

There remain many more items which, because of space, will appear in next month's column. Please keep writing, and remember the Alumni Fund.
