On October 15 the Dartmouth Club of Houston sponsored a "Dartmouth in San Antonio" weekend, including alumni from Austin and San Antonio. A goodly number of couples traveled the 200 miles from Houston to hear Professor James Wright of Hanover present an absorbing discussion about symbols of the West. During a question and answer session on the College, Professor Wright gave a lucid explanation of the demise of the Indian symbol. A surprise guest at the gathering was Al Quirk '49 from the Dartmouth Admissions Office. He discussed the significance of the Baake Case, among other things.
In the afternoon the group enjoyed a visit to the Alamo and a unique art center. The evening was topped off by two memorable events. Forty of us enjoyed a Mexican dinner on a barge which traversed the picturesque San Antonio River. That was followed by some great Dixieland music which featured a sing-a-long where a dozen or so stalwart grads gave a melodious (?) rendition of "Dartmouth's In Town Again."
