Writing this column has unexpected rewards. Recently I received from Richard Harris a beautiful blue model Boston & Maine freight car, complete with sliding doors and the familiar B & M logo. Earlier I reported his promotion to vice president, research and design, for the General Mills group that markets Lionel trains and other delights. This model is far superior to any rolling stock that ever pounded past Hanover on the Connecticut River track. Thanks, Dick. I will ride the rails of my memories as I dream over these jottings.

Congratulations to Dick Pew and MortFisher who have joined the class Alumni Fund team as regional agents. Dick will scour the rocks and crags of Maine while Mort conducts clambakes in Maryland. The 34 regional agents and the volunteers who work with them are a super team, as our record-setting performance demonstrates.

Dick Warner reports that he plans to retrace the old Yukon gold-rush trail in Alaska. He will be pursuing a professional interest in early Russian-Alaskan history, rather than panning for gold.' Dick teaches history and Russian studies at Mary Washington College in Fredricksburg, Va. He, wife Judy, and two children raise Arabian horses on their rural spread in that gorgeous country.

Paul Bragdon, Lt. Col., USAF, writes that he is chief of the avionics branch at the airbase in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Paul is working on the development of requirements and test software for Strategic Air Command aircraft. His wife is the manager of a fashion store in the area, so they enjoy buying excursions to New York City.

You folks can rebut my judgment on this one. Congressman Allen Ertel must be doing something right in Washington, because he is targeted for a return to private life by a conservative group that calls Al a "radical," according to the New York Times. Perhaps they found out he opposed repeal of the Fifth Amendment.

Stuart and Barbara Gord are getting settled in the Philadelphia area. They recently moved to Radnor, Pa. While the financial wizard scans his print-outs, the wife, two handsome daughters, and four-year-old son enjoy the countryside and mainline delights. JackStromberg is devoting his considerable energies to the legal problems of the Bechtel Construction Company. Wife Elizabeth reports that she accompanied him on trips to London and Paris and was able to make two stopovers in her native Norway. They plan to be in Hanover for the reunion, June 15-17, 1979.
