Bill Swartchild, a Field Museum trustee since 1966, has been elected to chair the board. His service has included chairing the program planning and evaluation committees. Bill is also active in the American Association of Museums and chairs the boards of Children's Memorial Hospital and Northwestern University's McGaw Medical Center. Beatrice is a member of the Field Museum Women's Board and a volunteer worker. Swanzey Center Frank Rath has no intention of retiring from his special design matchbook business, although he has eased off on his traveling. His message, "The older Margaret and I get the more we realize that good health is a gift of God and the most important asset one can have." Dorothy Blanchard reports that twins William and Richard '55 are carrying on the 118-year-old family construction business. Dorothy and FredPage spend some summer time in northern Pennsylvania, some winter time in Florida, and most of the time in Glen Ridge. Fred is senior director of Brooklyn Union Gas Company and still into golf.
We have learned with sorrow of the death of Sam H. Allen on September 10 and our sympathy is extended to his family. Gladys and DickParker, Egyptologist emeritus of Brown University, attended the dedication ceremonies of the Temple of Dendur in the Sackler wing of the Metropolitan Museum. Dick served on a committee in 1966 that recommended this location for the temple - a gift from Egypt to the United States in appreciation for our aid in salvage operations south of the new high dam at Aswan. The Nelson Rockefeller Collection, Inc. is offering for sale reproductions of more than 100 art works from Nelson's collection. He is described as very happy with this new venture and is quoted as having a better understanding of the problems of a small business person today.
Elite Armstrong's grandson David Posey is placekicker for the high flying Patriots. Herbert Uhl sends greetings from Liechtenstein with the comment that the ALUMNI MAGAZINE makes good reading and provides him with a view of life in the United States that he does not get from newspapers and magazines.
To honor Alex McFarland on his 70th birthday, a group of 15 partners of his Boston law firm gathered at Brae Burn Country Club to drink a toast. Son Bruce, who is manager of Quail Hollow Inn at Painesville, Ohio, was home for the occasion. Alex was very pleased to receive the king-sized birthday card signed by all the attenders at the Woodstock reunion.
Blanche and Milt Mclnnes will spend New Year's at Monterey with DeeDee and ChuckFaye en route to Hawaii for a two-month visit.
