Attenders at the Class Officers Meeting in early May were the Alcorns, Chases, Condons,Frenches, McInneses, and Raymonds. It was a great opportunity to hear from administrators, trustees, faculty, and undergraduates, and to understand more clearly the events of the past several months that were reported nationally. We hope that these reports will be available to all alumni, because they testify to the continuing education excellence of Dartmouth.

There had been consideration of a 1930 executive committee meeting before our Woodstock-Princeton reunion on September 21, but this does not now appear necessary, because our officers group resolved several outstanding matters. Principal among these were our 50th reunion plans (June 6-8), which are progressing nicely under Herb Chase's direction. It has been decided to publish a 50th-year directory, which will be limited in biographical content but will provide for address, marital status, and a brief update of activity since the publication of our 40th book. Charlie Widmayer will be sending out questionnaires in late summer to solicit information for this publication. Don't let him down. Respond promptly, and, most important, signify your intention to be in Hanover in June. This reunion is going to be the big one. (Whenever you do come to Hanover, be sure to visit Collis Center and view the ingenious conversion of our commons into Common Ground for all undergraduates.)

Vignettes of the weekend include a steak dinner at Brundage Lodge, a Harvard baseball double header, lunch at Thompson Arena, the Condons and Frenches listening intently to Professor Major's China presentation as they anticipate their trip thereto in July, the Eastern Collegiate bicycle rate (three times around an 18-mile course by way of Etna), fraternity chariot races on the campus, and the Spring Sing.

Alex Hughes (San Francisco) provides the following family resume: Brooks '56 is a tournament director for the American Bridge Contract League; Lawrence is president of Brooks Appliance Company in Marshall, Mich.; Caroline Blattner is an administrative assistant at UCLA Medical School; and John is president of California Laminates in North Hollywood. Alex seems content in his retiree role because "due to advanced age my grandchildren hear me out."

Hugh Johnson Jr. is vice president and director of institutional services at First Albany Corporation. Clark Denney is recovering from hip surgery and plans to be at our 50th. Hi Savage, after retiring from Ralston Purina, spent nine years as executive director of the Bennington Chamber of Commerce and currently is vice chair of the Home Health Board and secretary of the volunteer fire department. Dot and EvLow have rounded South America aboard the SS Santa Mercedes. In the process of winterizing their Winnepesaukee home, Betty and WinStone will soon change their legal residence to New Hampshire and spend winters in Bethesda. To clear the air as to where in County Cork the Caslers live, Harry now makes it definitive as "between McGillicuddys' Reeks and the Old Head of Kinsale."

Attendance at the Harvard game tailgate parties has slumped. This year an effort will be made to bring them back to their former eminence. A quarter of the Class lives within easy access of Boston. Ed Butterworth will have parking passes available. We'll be looking for you on October 20.
