It is with deep regret that we report the deaths of "Doc" Waters and "Fuji" Fujiyama. Obituary notices appear in the necrology section.

Word only recently came to us of the appointment during November of Harry Dunning, who is General Manager of the paper mills of Scott Paper Company, as Chairman of the Pennsylvania State College Center Advisory Board. This Advisory Board, whose membership is composed of well-known educational, business and industrial leaders in Chester and the Philadelphia areas, will recommend to the Penn State authorities a policy in regard to serving the community with off-campus educational programs developed by the Pennsylvania State College Extension Services.... JackGarland was elected an Assistant Vice-President in December of The First National Bank of 805t0n.... Dick Blun was appointed Field Research Manager in December of the Bureau of Advertising of the American Newspaper Publishers Association. Dick had previously acted as Assistant Field Research Manager. Dick's major assignment is the project of organizing and standardizing Monthly GroceryInventories, a newspaper research undertak- ing which is now supported by newspapers in the major markets from coast to coast.

Tom Peirce is busy managing the Peirce School of Business Administration in Philadelphia, which has an enrollment of over 800 day students and. 500 evening students. The school is now in its 84th year and was founded by Tom's grandfather, of the same name Cupe Burns .made his annual Eastern "tour" during November and en route stopped off and saw Joe Placak in Cleveland and while eating lunch in a restaurant in New York literally bumped into Ed Schuster. Cupe took in the Yale game and incidentally reports that he has never seen Dartmouth lose a football game since 1930. He apparently hits all of the "right" games, including the Cornell fifth down affair in Hanover.

Thanks to our Chicago correspondent, BobMcClory, we are able to report on a few items from the Windy City: Bob Geisinger, who is Economic Analyst with Montgomery, Ward & Co., recently made a talk to the National Association of Budget Officers and we understand that Bob's remarks were reproduced in the Chicago press.... Don Mcßirney, President of the National Bank of Commerce of Tulsa, visited Chicago in late November and got together with Newell Rumpf, Sam Adams,Chuck Simmons, who has recently organized his own company known as Guardian Light Company, manufacturers of fluorescent lighting fixtures, Fred Schmidt and Bob. A few days later Jack Wooster arrived in Chicago and had luncheon with Bob, Chuck Simmons, Fred Schmidt and Mickey Emrich.

We were pleased to receive an announcement from Kirt Meyer of the birth of Nancy Beth during November.

Many men in the Class make substantial contributions to the College in various ways. Those whose work is exacting but of great importance to the College as well as to InskipDickerson are the men who serve on committees interviewing candidates for admission to Dartmouth. Undoubtedly many of you may be serving on committees of this kind, but the Class should know that the following men are serving as Chairmen of Interviewing Committees: Hughie Johnson is the Alumni Councilor for the entire region of Northern New York; Geqrge Parkhurst is the Alumni Councilor for the entire region of Delaware, Maryland and West Virginia: Carll Buhler is a Regional Chairman and the following head Interviewing Committees: Jim Dunlap, Walt Dresser,Win Durgin, Bill Bragner, Paul Shanley, JackWooster, Scott VanDerbeck, Johnny Maitland,Cliff Williams, Milt Shultz, Bill Harrison, BudFisher, AI Marsters, Bud French, Bill Lawsonand Frank McLaughlin.

The temptation is great to say something more about Reunion plans but we were cautioned by Editor Charlie Widmayer to keep our notes brief for this month because of the Fund Report. But remember the dates of June 17, 18 and 19 for our Twentieth Reunion this year, 1949, in Hanover.

Fund, Contributors for 1948 418 Gifts (Participation Index 83). Total gifts: §11,431.50 (114% of objective). JOHN F. RICH, Class Agent.
