Bob Dumont, a career lifer at New England Mutual Life with 22 years of service, has been named a vice president of this prestigious insurance company. Bob is responsible for all personnel and equal-opportunity functions.

Also in the Boston area, we hear that Foster Aborn is active on the Advisory Committee in the town of Hingham. Foster is a vice president of John Flancock Mutual Life in the investment department.

Motorists driving on the Massachusetts turnpike near Worcester should be on the lookout for our own Line Spaulding who has fulfilled a life-long dream by becoming a highway patrolman. Having made his fortune in the envelope business, Line decided to devote his life to helping motorists understand why the 55-mile-an-hour speed is necessary in order to conserve fuel.

And from Minneapolis, we learn of yet another career change. Doug Stevenson, a successful stockbroker, has become a fund raiser for the Hare Krishna. Doug has always liked airports and has discovered that soliciting donations is much easier and more gratifying than selling stocks. He writes that "pinning carnations on travelers has its rewards." Doug added that he wears a stocking cap when he plays golf at the country club.

Meanwhile, in Dallas, I am pleased to inform you that 1 am co-chairman, along with Walt Garrison, of the organization CAFUWIGATS (Cowboys Are Fed Up With Indians Getting All The Sympathy). This non-partisan group is dedicated to persuading Tex Schramm and Tom Landry, by peaceable means of course, that the Dallas football team should drop the symbol "Cowboys" and should be renamed "The Born-Again Believers." After all, there are many more Baptists in Dallas than cowboys, and Roger Staubach doesn't even have a horse, much less a lasso. As Walt Garrison says, "Since I left the Cowboys, nobody even knows how to chew. I mean us cowboys are hootin' mad." That says it all, Walt.
