Another fall, another column. Oh joy, joy! Blessed be the secretary, for he shall inherit the eraser. From Sergeant Spaulding in Massachusetts we received the following:

"Dear Pig,

"Now that I've been given my own cruiser ' I'm eager to report on an update in the world of motorist protection. Five days a week I set my radar trap up on Route 9 in Southboro and have I snared a few Dartmouth exes! My biggest prize (huge might be more appropriate) has been Bob Woodberry '54, all the way from the West Coast in a rented Rolls — still every bit the rugger and heading toward the goal at a high rate of speed. Judging from the expression on his face he was mighty surprised that his fuzz buster didn't pick up my trap. One classmate who was equally dumbfounded — at being caught, not by seeing me — was Teddy Rowe in his 450 SEL. At any rate, I am required to earn a 50 per cent ROI (weekly) on the cost of my radar equipment, so at 2.5K I have to keep hump- ing. Any classmate can reach me on his CB via the state police patch when he is passing through the Worcester area, and if it is between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m., he is invited to be my guest for supper at the Grafton barracks ... for $1.25 the sole ain't bad!

"P.S. Don't forget me if you would like police escort to Harvard game. I am allowed to moonlight and 1 have installed siren and lights on my '62 Volvo, my J24, my whaler, and catamaran."

And from John W. Crowley, C.L.U.:

"Dear Piggy,

"After your last comments about Stevenson and Spaulding guess you're desperate for legitimate news! Here goes:

"Tom Conlon, the gorgeous Muffy, and their 15-year-old son Pete joined Dave Whiteford (the White Water Ox) and me for a fantastic canoe/raft trip on the Skagit River — one of America's wild and scenic rivers in Washington State. Conlon is without question one of the world's finest white water canoeists and negotiated Dolly Parton Drop without blinking an eye. Ox, on the other hand, crashed and burned upriver in his raft — broke oars and frame and suffered a significant wet ass. He claims it was his 15-year-old female companion who was rowing but we are waiting for the game films to confirm. Tom and Ox hadn't seen each other since Beth's and my wedding 21 years ago (at which you were an usher!). Too bad Molly Whiteford couldn't make the trip, but we are sending her a special copy of the game films.

"It was really great to see Tom and Muffy — their oldest son is a junior at Dartmouth and their second boy turned down Dartmouth for Wesleyan. Think they were suitably impressed with the Northwest since the weather was simply outstanding!"

Bausch & Lomb reports that John S. Parke has been appointed vice president of marketing for Bausch & Lomb's consumer products division. He will direct the division's marketing and sales of its broad line of Ray- Ban sun glasses, eye-glass frames, readers, magnifiers, and ski goggles to eye care practitioners, department stores, and sporting goods and mass merchandising outlets. John and family reside at 215 Ambassador Drive, Brighton, N.Y.

And Len Neely in Alamo, Calif., writes: "I have no news, aside from being up to my eyeballs in sheetrock, nails, 2x4's, etc. as we turn our garage into a fourth bedroom, family room, and utility room. Would you believe three kids and the washer and dryer disconnected and unavailable for two weeks? But the result will be two teenagers and a five-year-old with three bedrooms instead of two. Hope it will mean relief from the usual bickering over whose mess is whose. Also, no more doing laundry with the car as backdrop at 25 degrees, standing on a fertilizer bag!

"I have a small problem. All of Bill Neely's Dartmouth-related mail is coming to me. At first his stuff came to my new address and mine went to my old address. Now all comes here. I have forwarded most of it to him. But would like to get it straightened out. (I'm sure he can confirm this for you as he also lives near the Cowboys — born again believers?)

"I asked Flint Ranney for help and the WWW may be OK now. But I'd appreciate anything you could do. Bill would too, I guess. Best regards to you — and Bill."
