Our small reunion on September 20 was not any great success for 1917 as far as numbers are concerned. Only two loyal classmates were in attendance, Phil Evans and Alden Vaughan. Phil brought his daughter and grandson and a friend who happily joined us. The ladies of the class were represented by Josephine Carr, widow of Walter Carr. She has been a "regular" for three or four years and has to travel about 85 miles to make it. She is a real trooper, who has much to tell of her travels. Phil's relatives and guests are always a delight to chat with. They declare that they can be counted on to come every year as long as possible. We all enjoyed the lunch of chicken pie, rice* salad, relishes, and that good old standard New England dessert apple pie and cheese.

A few tidbits from dues returns (thanks to each one who gave time to write a message):

Harry Fowler "Cease magazine, can read only very large type. Legally blind. Has its compensation IRS deduction, also others. Best wishes to all in same boat, if pen has not wandered too far." The cheery attitude and thought of others in this fellow is to be admired.

Harold Ingersoll "This is my fifth year of resident home, Culpepper Garden. Five days a week I work part-time in cartographic office of AAA on maps. My specialty is conversion of satellite imagery to replace 'air brush' rendering of shaded relief. It is a challenge." How good to be useful!

Howard Myers "I am leaving on October 3 for a 21-day tour of Egypt and Israel which includes a five-day Nile cruise."

Robert Paine "Did you ever read that Gen. Pershing asked for a million more men in late 1917, and those of us who went into Artillery ROTC out west were all made captains instead of second lieutenants in about five weeks? So I call myself one of Pershing's men."

Leonard Reade "Had my 86th birthday in August and am still able to drive 35 miles to the office three days a week. Otherwise I am pretty well, although I cannot drive any long trips."

Ralph Wells is having difficulty with his seeing but likes to go out among friends at his club and enjoys hearing about class news.

Ted Lonnquest - "News with us on this 15th day of September is that Marie and I and family are pleasantly - and gratefully

celebrating our 57th wedding anniversary. Keep it up, Ted, through as many more years as possible.

Willard Wyeth ; "Yesterday (9/17/80) was my 87th birthday. My son W.H.W. Jr. has the same birthday as mine. I was pleased to read that your birthday was remembered by some of your co-workers." So was I, Bill. It was a great boost to my spirits.

Parker Karnan "Went to San Francisco a few months ago when President Kemeny spoke. There were about 500 people there. I was the oldest graduate there, 1917! I have not had a topcoat on for ten years. Happy snow shoveling, Alden!" With the rent I am paying, I do refuse to take care of any disposal of snow!

John "Sam" White "Still able to walk, still able to drive, still able to write a check." Good work.
