Now that we are midway into the football season, I hope I will have a chance to catch up on a lot of your activities. If not, please drop a line because these columns will be awfully sparse and will end up repeats of the same boring executive committee meetings. So please cooperate.
We are very saddened by the news of the death of our classmate, Bill Storm, and his wife Fran, who were hit by a drunken driver while traveling through Idaho. They had been visiting with Wheeler T. Daniels (Dan), in Billings, Mont. They leave their three children aged 15, 12, and ten. We cannot really express the feelings one has in hearing this kind of news; I know we will all miss Bill and think of him. He was so full of life.
While attending a dinner for Ronald Reagan last week, I ran into Jon Cohen, who was assisting the chairman of the dinner committee, John Whitehead, in the V.I.P. room at the Waldorf Astoria. The dinner was a compendium of bigwigs and top entertainers including Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Then there were some of the participants like myself.
Allen Stowe tells me that he and Richard C. Griggs have set up a new company, Aldrich Drilling, of which they are the general partners. Allen will continue to be involved in corporate consulting and Dick will still be doing financial and estate planning. We wish them luck in their new venture.
Tony Roisman is planning to remarry on Thanksgiving in Washington, D.C., to Lois Fagin. Their new family will consist of his three children, Abram, Rachel, and Beatrice, plus Jan and Lisa, the daughters of his new bride. Tony is now in a new position at the Justice Department, heading a section charged with the prosecution of violators of environmental laws. His first big target is Hooker Chemical for Love Canal.
Tom Trimarco won the Massachusetts Republican primary and will be running for Congress this November. After November, he can use all of our financial support.
As I write this letter, I am getting ready to attend the class of '60 executive committee meeting to be held at Moose Mountain Lodge in Etna, N.H. A full house is expected with HapDunning and Dick Foley coming from California, Gus Leach from Canada, Walter Freedman from Chicago, and the rest of the group from the East Coast. It is also the weekend of the Dartmouth/Harvard game and we look forward to a great time. We'll have a lot to report in the next letter.
