Michael P. Hollern, chairman and president of Brooks Resources, a land development concern, was recently elected a director of Pacific Lumber Company.
Seth Strickland, formerly vice president of institutional equity sales at Smith Barney Harris Upham and Company, New York, recently joined the newly-formed international money-management subsidiary of American Express Company.
John Goyette has formed Goyette Associates, an arts consulting, production, and management group in New York City. After 25 years in the "arts business," in such positions as (most recently) executive director of Spirit Square Arts Center in Charlotte, N.C., and (previously) executive director of the White Mountains Center "for the Arts in Jefferson, N.H., and assistant director of the Hopkins Center at Dartmouth, John has formed this group of experts in the field to provide consulting, production, and management services to visual and performing arts programs and artists.
Received the following reminiscence from Art Hill in Honolulu, sparked by one of these recent articles, and thought it was something to share:
"Enjoyed your column in the October 1983 issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, although it took till 1984 to reach the islands. Your comments on Urb Hirschey coordinating minireunions brought back one of my fondest memories of Dartmouth: summer camp at Fort Devens when Urb had also organized our beer-drinking activities on our first week day pass after three weeks of Army ROTC summer camp. I'll never forget the next morning, while we were all badly hung-over, bouncing along dusty roads in an uncomfortable two-and-a-half-ton truck; Urb was hanging over the back, being held by others, while he lost most of what he had gained the night before. That was a long ride to the rifle range. After 20 years with the military I thought I was doing something unusual, i.e., teaching inmates for Chaminade University of the Pearl Harbor Prison ('brig') but what kinds of 'goods and services' is Urb dealing in at Climax Manufacturing Company in Castorland, N.Y.? It would be nice to know before the spring issue, since we plan a trip back east in the summer of 1984, and you know the slow mail. Mahalo."
