You don't really have to go out of town to get reacquainted with your classmates. Don Kersting was kind enough to invite your secretary to lunch, and I met him, after 38 years, in his spacious office among the Wall Street canyons of financial structures. Don has been head man for some time of Kersting and Brown, most highly regarded fund-raising counsel to higher educational institutions, medical centers, and museums.

Dee and Don have three children - Mark, a Dartmouth graduate now an attorney in Boston; Matt, who went to Trinity and lives in Fort Worth; and Leslie, University of Pennsylvania, now a nurse at the University of Colorado Medical Center.

Our fall mini-reunion for the Harvard game weekend: 43 classmates of '43 (with families, making a crowd of almost 100) traveled through the brilliant autumnal colors of the New England hills to join together for a beautifully planned weekend. Those of us who were there missed all of you who were not, and can only suggest you plan now to join in for the 1981 Cornell game weekend (October 23-24). Eddie O'Brien's Sweet Refrain has given you a full report, but permit me some random impressions and happy memories:

Getting to know Ann Keefe for the first time. She's an accomplished travel writer. John and Ann have four children - Alica Waligore, married with one child, is a Dartmouth '80; Son gill '76 is in law practice with John; Jane is a University of New Hampshire sophomore; and Miles is working for Photo Mart in Wilton.

Learning of Chandler Stevens' satisfying life in Yarmouthport, Cape Cod, with his wife Amy, whom he married not long ago. Their ultimate pride and joy: seven grandchildren, separately produced and lovingly shared.

Enjoying the happy demeanor and warm personality of Bill Sweeney, as we figured out that our connection in Hanover was through his roommate, Jim Mullins, and my freshman-year roommate, Norm Probstein, both St. Lousians. Bill recounted a recent visit from Jim's son who brought along Jim's grandson to get acquainted.

Chatting with John Goode, who was extra busy as a considerate and fine host for many classmates at The Chieftain, which John will continue to manage until June and then will eagerly go to work reviving a Rip Road home which he's acquired.

Having a post-Harvard-game victory drink with Nancy and Bob Stokes. Daughter Nancy Samsiegle is married to a Dartmouth graduate, and they are about to go to Bermuda for two years for work in oceanography. Daughter Barbara works for the Shawmut Bank in Boston.

Reliving World War II London days with Jean and Dick Wood, and Coach Karl Michael's superb swim team training with Larry Noble and Dick Morner, and . . . you get the idea. Come join us next year!

Finally, we were all surprised and delighted to see and learn that Frank and Margo Hartman have enhanced the attractiveness of the new Blunt Alumni Center (what Crosby Hall has grown to be) by donating the landscaping around the entrance. A lasting and thoughtful contribution.
