Thornton Jenness' son, John S. Jenness '44, sent me the obituary of Herb Wolff which appeared in the New York Times. It gives many facets of Herb's long and fruitful life. Jack Jenness was good enough to write about himself and his family, too. He has been director of human resources planning and development at Con Edison for ten years. His wife is active in church and related affairs as well as in painting miniatures. Their older son John '70 is a lawyer in South Paris, Maine, and he and his wife were expecting their first child in April. Their younger son Thornton W. II '71 is a training supervisor for Ebasco in New York City. He and his wife live on Long Island and have a daughter almost two years old. Jack's daughter Susan is a program assistant for the Council for Accreditation of Correction in Washington, D.C., with a master's in the administration of criminal justice all completed except for the final thesis. Jack is president of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Long Is land.

Bill Taylor's cousin wrote that a neighbor found Bill the morning of March 3 on the floor with a broken collarbone and hip. He remained conscious and lucid up to 4:00 p.m., when his cousin left him. But the shock was too much, and he left this world about 5:00 p.m. Whitney and I had called on Bill shortly before Whitney's hospitalization, and I am glad the 'wo old friends had that last visit. Bill's obituary will be in this or the next issue of the MAGAZINE.

Margaret Dorr wrote, "This is a very special reunion year and I feel very sad that several of e most active and loyal members of the class of not be present. They were all fine men."

My birding trip to Costa Rica was rugged but a big success. The group saw 289 species of birds. As for me, I came home with 31 "lifers" (birds never before seen in my life, to the uninitiated).

Daughter Betty Peyton and I are laying plans for reunion and hope to see many of you on June 6.
