It has been all quiet on the Tenner front this past summer, providing only a minimum of news. Hazen and Rena Jones had their usual summer vacation in July at Sebago Lake in Maine and especially enjoyed having with them a granddaughter who is a student at Dartmouth.

Karen and John Galley put off their vacationing until fall. The latter part of September they were to go to Minneapolis for Whitney Peyton's wedding, then make other visits to relatives there before returning to Texas. On October 10 John is to receive the first honorary life trustee membership in the Texas chapter of the Nature Conservancy. In early November they take off for a two-month trip to South America and Antarctica. An exciting prospect for birders!

I had a delightful summer trip. My daughter and I had tickets to fly from Los Angeles on August 10 to visit my other daughter, Laura, in Madison, Wise. In spite of the strike we decided to go, and it was an entirely normal flight both ways. Our two-week visit with the family there was a very happy one, as we had not been together for some time and had much to talk over and to do. I have become very fond of southern Wisconsin, as its rolling fields and wooded hills remind me of parts of New England. One big difference is the almost endless fields of corn, just getting ripe then, which gave us many a good meal of corn on the cob. I hope it has been a good summer for all of you and wish you would write me some account of it that I can use in "Tenner Topics."
