Just you folks please keep remembering to feed June 14-17 into your computer so you will have no conflicting plans with our fabulous 45th reunion. A very special class and a very special date!

Lifelong Natick resident Ed Casey has retired as principal of the Coolidge Junior High School after serving 43 years in the town as an educator. Besides his outstanding record in that respect, he was one of Natick's greatest athletes as a three-sport star at Natick High School. This he continued at Dartmouth in football and baseball, where he led the Ivy League in batting for two years. He and Claire plan to stay around home for the winter and then look about New England for a place near a golf course. A picture of 1937's distinguished educator accompanies this column.

One night last summer, Katie called JaneBrown to see how she was getting along. Next thing we know, we are part of a small reunion as her guests for lunch at the Eastern Point Yacht Club. She also corralled Jean and Al Grey,Ruth and Doug Butman, and Katie and Larry Brooks. Gloucester has been an important part of all their lives in lasting friendship. All are retired except Doug, but he arranged to have the summer off there and let the younger medics care for things back in Waltham. Al looked good for all his problems, and we were all a bit frightened by Larry's beard. Jane has moved to Palm Beach Gardens in Florida (not West Palm Beach as reported earlier). She showed us pictures of her lovely condominium, with her own small pool on the patio.

Another delightful day later on we spent with Connie and Stan Berenson in Marblehead for lunch, beach, and a complete tour of their historical town, including climbing along the rocky shores and taking a lingering look at the very famous painting, The Spirit of '76, housed in the town hall. This has become a national tourist attraction.

Notes from the telethon: The Lappins spend much of their summer on their boat, the Overdraft, berthed in Marblehead. They planned a flying trip to China in the fall. Hank Doremus retired from his veterinarian business as well as from the University of Vermont Medical School. They now winter in Vero Beach and summer back in Waterbury, Vt. Norm Hosford retired from Bendix three years ago and moved from lowa to Old Lyme, Conn. They love sailing and salt air but have no interest in Florida. FredKennedy has completely quit business, too. He was an electrical designer on ships and quite proud of his last job on the gun boats that Saudi Arabia bought.

Marge and Alby Chester sold their Lexington home within two weeks of putting it on the market. They are now in the home they built on Cape Cod - Box 645, Mashpee, Mass. 02649. Alby has not retired and continues in the machine-tool business as a rep. John Latchis is still complaining about the problems with the movie business. They do get to Naples, Fla., to visit family each winter. Our adopted classmate, Judge Ed Martin, has retired from the bench, but now sits as a "master" at court. He and Ruth attended Alumni College last summer along with the Tom O'Briens, the Tom Nasts, and the Al Romanows. Ed also kept busy with a 50-by-20 garden near his home in Lexington.

We are still unable to contact Art Guyer, whose only address is a box number on the Cape in Orleans. We sicced our best bird dog, Gib Reynolds, on him, but all Gib could come up with is, "Art moves around a lot!" Anybody got any ideas? We think Art should come back to reunion in June to see all those movies he took of us that we run at every reunion and enjoy so much.

On a visit to Hanover recently we went looking for the Gordon Bennett memorial plaque which, at the time of the ceremony, was attached to a granite boulder near the middle of the Chase Field complex. Due to various reasons, when the new hockey rink was built it had to be moved. It is now close to the edge of the field under the scoreboard close to the Co-op market and the Mobil station on the Leb road. There is access to the field from the Co-op parking lot.

We regret to report the death of FredLaughton at home in Pennsville, N.J. He had suffered with emphysema for years. Rachel called us with the sad news.

Recently retired after 43 years as an educator, Ed Casey '37 relaxes in retirement outside his Natick, Mass., home.
