The old saw, the more things change, the more they stay the same was proven recently when I visited Chi Gam, which has a subsidiary in a small Cambridge apartment. Swinging through Boston in January, I bunked with Meredith Epstein '97 and Anne Marie Nee. We stopped by on our way back from dinner to say hello to BrianWachob and John Maldonado, who were in game form batding each other for beer over a pong table only slighdy smaller than their living room.
Three marriage announcements bounced into my in-box this month. Bryan Galat wrote to say that he will be marrying Kate Stachowicz of Atlanta, Ga., in Woodstock, Vt., this August. Bryan proposed over Thanksgiving last fall and, shordy after, his fiancee moved to Greenwich, Conn., to be closer to Bryan, who is a University of Connecticut second-year law student. Law review is keeping Bryan busy and he is looking forward to working for the boutique tax firm of Bergman, Horowitz and Reynolds this summer.
Lopa Patel, now a med student at Case Western, actually met her new fiance at her Case Western interviews during our senior year. This past Valentine's Day they exchanged V-Day presents at her apartment and David said, "I've got one more thing to give you." She thought it was the Skymall Catalog from the plane but "the next thing I know, he is kneeling in front of me with the ring." She said "yes, yes, yes" and the happy couple plans to wed in 2001.
Maggie Geiger blitzed me to say that she attended the lovely February wedding of JimLinehan to Heidi Hughes (a Northwestern grad) in Indianapolis. The newlyweds honeymooned in Portugal after marching down the aisle with many Dartmouth people in attendance, including Maggie, LiamKrehbiel, Greg Vadasdi, Alto Lo '99, Kyle Marchesseault '99, Annie Briggs '97, Ned Hall '00 and best man Dominic Seiterle.Dan Kerzner tried to attend but spent the wedding snowed in at the Chicago airport.
Bill Curran is still dabbling in the Capital Markets in N.Y.C. and living with investment bankers Keith Zadourian and ChrisEgan. Curran, Egan, Zadourian, Jon Gabel and Matt Blanton spent New Year's in L.A. with Jeff Wadlow, a USC film student, and actor Eyal Podell '97. Also out west was Matt Streng, up from Chile to visit his family for the holidays. Curran wrote that Streng works for the public health department at the University of Chile in Santiago and plans to return stateside for good in October to attend grad school. Blanton teaches high school math at the Taft School in Connecticut, where he plans to spend a third year teaching. Gabel is finishing a master's degree at Boston University and plans to apply to med school. "Jay Danzi is delicately balancing his new career with IMG as the Italian Jerry Maguire with his ever- growing social calendar. May the near future find us perched around a fire in a quiet mountainside pub without telecommunication." I caught up with Kevin Arista,Mollie Hershey, Daria Zibluk, JessGabriel and Paul Killebrew '99 at Buca di Beppo in Washington, D.C. Mollie and Kevin are in a heated competition of punchbuggy which has lasted several months. More recently, in New York City, I saw Susanna McFadden, Carrie Spring and Jonah Sonnenborn '99, all whom were look- ing "very hip and downtown." Write me with your news.
