THE Harvard .weekend was also a memorable one for the men's soccer team, which defeated the Crimson at Cambridge for the first time since 1953- Freshman Chris Mendelsohn's goal three minutes into the overtime period gave Dartmouth a 2-1 victory and snapped a streak of 13 straight losses to Harvard.
One of the reasons for Dartmouth's recent soccer success has been the play of senior goalkeeper Andy Krahling, whom coach Tom Griffith calls "one of the best goalies in the country." Krahling received second team all-New England and second team all-Ivy recognition last year when he set a Dartmouth record with six shutouts during the campaign. With one shutout as a sophomore and the one already this year, he is only two shutouts shy of the record ten established by Lyman Missimer from 1975 to 1978. "You use your hands a lot, so you need good hand-eye coordination—and a little bit of craziness—to do well at goalkeeper," said Krahling, a psychology major. "You have to be different."
