Harry Ambrose informed me that the Cornell weekend mini-reunion went very well despite the fact that our numbers were a bit disappointing. But they were substantial enough to make a respectable showing at the torchlight parade Friday night. A steady rain forced the speeches inside Webster Hall, but didn't put a damper on either bonfire or spirits. Our class executive committee had a very fruitful meeting Saturday morning, the details of which will be forthcoming in a class newsletter. You should be aware that Norm Fine has just been elected class newsletter editor and a member of the executive committee, replacing TomCarlsen, who has retired.

Roger Young was on network television news in late October as a spokesperson for the F.B.I., commenting on recent suspected terrorist activities in New York City.

Monk Spencer has joined Merrill Lynch as a vice president at their offices at 2 Broadway in downtown Manhattan. I am sure you will appreciate this financial contact and convenient access to the confused economy.

Buck Frisch has been appointed manager, human relations, at the grocery product division headquarters of McCormick and Company Inc. Those of you who knew Buck as an undergraduate will remember he excelled in this field even in those days. Buck joined McCormick after graduation and, after gaining marketing management experience, was promoted to the human relations department ten years ago.

This news may shock a few of you: Tom Hamilton finally bit the dust and married Kathy Fraser last September in San Diego. It is interesting to note that Kathy is a 1961 graduate of Mary Hitchcock Nursing School. As she has two teenage daughters, she notes, "We sure are three lucky gals!" Hambone moves slow but catches up fast.

Bob De Bruyn is a tax partner with Nelson and Harding Esq., Lincoln, Neb. He reports, "Still recovering from the impact of economic recovery tax act of 1981." His son is in the Air Force, stationed in Mexico, and his daughter attends junior college in California.

A note from Woody Goss's wife Nancy reports that they are breathing easier now that a couple of their large sons, one Dartmouth '84, the other Andover '83, have involuntarily retired from football due to knee injuries. Their older brother had already entered retirement because of shoulder problems created by the same sport. The essence of the correspondence was that "it's nice now to think of watching a football game without worrying about where the crutches, ace bandages, and Blue Cross card are."

Do you realize that there are 15 children of '55s who will be graduating from Dartmouth in the summer of 1982? Plans are being made to have parents and siblings get together during the commencement week. You will also be hearing about plans which are already underway regarding a '55 reunion in Williamsburg, Va., the weekend of October 9, 1982, for the William and Mary game. Obviously it is necessary to plan early, and this will give you an opportunity to plug your first dates into your 1982 calendars.

Recently I received in the post, unsolicited, a clothing catalog from Orvis Country Clothes of Vermont. My wife immediately spotted none other than Doug Melville modeling a handsome viyella robe. We all know he and Joan own and operate the Kandahar Lodge in Manchester, Vt., and now we know what Doug does in the off-season.

I attended the Yale game last weekend but failed to contact any '55s. Don't you guys sit in GA" anymore?
