Lee Harwood writes from Charleston, S.C., that they spent the summer in Bermuda and Newport but are now at home in Charleston, making frequent business trips to New York. The Amelungs traveled last summer in Europe, visiting Greece, Venice, Innsbrook, Basel, and London, enjoying particularly the Swiss and Bavarian Alps.
Jim Henretta, now in Deland, Fla., for the winter, spent the summer in Maine and at their home in Pennsylvania.
And from another part of Florida, the BobMcColloms are enjoying life in Sarasota. Bob is a regular attendant at the Dartmouth Club of Sarasota, where he frequently sees Ted Nilsen and Ken Emerson. Bob recently talked with AlStopford on the phone. Al had recently undergone chest surgery in Montclair, N.J., where he lives. Bob recalls a summer which he spent at a dude cattle ranch in Arizona, where he was the doctor a camp managed by Al. He has also had correspondence with the Lonsdales, their friendship going back many years, to when Bob and Stan were once counselors together at a YMCA camp in the Catskills. Bob is in good health with the help of a pacemaker.
Frank Rolfe took an extended trip last fall, accompanied by his brother-in-law, through the Berkshires, Adirondacks, the Laurentians, Montreal and Quebec, including travel through a blizzard in Crawford Notch.
Ockie Hecht still swims three times a week and enjoys his daughter and her family, who live nearby in Reno, Nev.
Bill Smith, still playing golf, reports that he shot his age twice in the past year not a bad accomplishment for anyone in our class.
The Roly Taylors went on a trip in the fall with other members of the "Old Guard" of West Hartford, Conn., to Glacier National Park and the Canadian Rockies, and they are now spending the winter in the deep freeze along with the rest of us New Englanders. And in another note from West Hartford, Al Robinson joins up with Roily in bowling duckpins in the winter and lawn bowling in the summer. We hope they will soon be back to lawn bowling. As we write this on February 1, the prospect doesn't look too good.
