Lest any of us get too smug about our Ivy League background, let me recount the following conversation (while calling a classmate): Me: May I talk to Dr., this is Mr. Gordon. It's in regard to some Dartmouth College business. Secretary: Ditmas College? Me: (loud and clear) Dartmouth College, ma'am. She: Yarmouth, did you say? Me: (louder and clearer) Dartmouth! You know Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Dartmouth. She: (dead silence)
Wes Guylay has just been named senior vice president by Morgan Guaranty Trust of New York. Wes was senior equity investment manager for pension and institutional accounts. Wes still lives in Sands Point, N.Y.
John Walkup, who is co-director of the University of Arizona's Optical Sciences Center, will spend his spring semester on leave from Texas Tech to work on using normal "incoherent" light to perform functions that at present are only possible with laser or "coherent" light.
Bill Shanahan has been promoted by the Colgate-Palmolive Company. Bill is the new group vice president. Bill, formerly vice president for Western Hemisphere operations, will now become president for all Colgate operations in both Europe and Africa. Hope Bill is still playing basketball in his spare time!
Lowell Jaeger continues to run three lumber/building material establishments in New Jersey. Lowell is married to Joanne and has two children: Brian, 11, and Heather, ten. As if that weren't enough to keep him busy, he is also head of the New Jersey Lumbermen's Association and recently built a house in Tenants Harbor, Maine, for a summer/winter retreat.
George Saj is a general surgeon in Glen Ridge, N.J. He and wife Martha have four children. They reside in Montclair. George told me that he has run into a few '62s over the last few years. He met Ed Cohen at a few medical meetings on the West Coast. Ed is a cardiologist and, according to George, is looking fine and doing well professionally. George also met Joel Manchester on the coast where he is a cardiologist in Los Angeles. George met BarryLevine at another medical meeting. Barry specializes in pulmonary medicine and is affiliated with the medical school at Mass. General Hospital.
George Haubner is a vice president at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Cos. in New York in the trust department. He and wife Kathy have three children: Laura, 11, Tim, nine, and Julie, six. George is a cub scout leader, soccer coach, and local environmentalist in his spare time.
Frank DeGiacomo is a cardiologist practicing in Clifton, N.J. Frank and his wife Rhoda have three boys, 18, 12, and ten years old.
