Surprise this month I have some news to report.

At 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, President Burns called the meeting to order. "The meeting" consisted of the opening gun for Class Officers Weekend and our meeting consisted of Dick Burns, Jim Farley, Allan Dingwall, Alex Fanelli, Jackie Quayle, Andy Wood, Ad Winship, Guy Swenson, Dave Heald, Wally Farr, and Bob Kirk. There were several momentous decisions made, of which two are of great interest to the entire class. Dave Heald reported that the reunion dates (The 40th, that is!) are Monday, June 14, 1982 through Thursday, June 17, so write it down and start to plan. The second, and not nearly as momentous, is that the class dues will not be raised. Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday morning consisted of meetings culminating in a luncheon featuring John Kemeny and Dave McLaughlin. Isn't it amazing I'm already referring to Dave McLaughlin, but it never dawned on me to speak of Ernie Hopkins!

And now back to business. Bob Searles advises me that his granddaughter has been admitted to the Dartmouth class of 1985. That's right, his granddaughter! Can anyone else make such a statement a granddaughter in college?

Hugh Corrigan writes from Ithaca and tells us he has been associated with Challenge Industries for the past ten years. This is a community-leased, non-profit, sheltered workshop for the handicapped. "This has been the most rewarding work of my life." He closes by saying, "The quality of life and the water supply in Ithaca suit us just fine." Ad passed on Ford Coffman's annual letter, and would you believe this is the Coffmans' 19th year in Hawaii' where Ford is pastor at Windward United Church of Christ.

Bert Anger writes from Switzerland where he is running the European operations of the Vermont American Corporation, which is located in Louisville, Kentucky. That's hopscotching the world!

The Bobbsey Twins, Warren Kreter and DickLippman, were in town over the weekend on business having to do with the Alumni Council. Stan and Ricky Stambaugh were also here, and this was just for the fun of it. Two important dates for us: The '81 mini-reunion begins on Friday, October 9. And much more important, the 40th reunion of the great class of '42 begins on Monday, June 14, 1982. Have a pleasant summer, and drop a note to old Bob so we can hit the October issue like gangbusters.
