And so another month rolls by. In early January we had a low reading of —31 F and in mid-February the self-same thermometer jumped to +61 F, so who knows.

Cliff Roberts was a guest lecturer at Tuck in February and had an opportunity to tour the new Blunt Alumni Center with particular emphasis on the '42 fireplace equipment; I'm told he gave high marks to both features. Bob and Betty Strasenburg were in town in the same month and I guess they were just visiting as I have no tour reports.

Dick Lee reports that he celebrated a dubious birthday in Cuernavaca with Jim and Joyce Idema. Dick reports that Jim would leave shortly on a 12-day cruise out of Hawaii in order to observe whales at work and at play. Dick seems to be the epitome of the nonchubber as he goes on to say, "Seems the same effect could be achieved by staying home and staring into one's goldfish bowl through a large magnifying glass." Hail to Idema and save the whale.

I recently received a full-page newspaper account from the Daily News of Newburyport describing a 19-day journey aboard a 39-foot sailboat from Rock Hall, Md., to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgins. The skipper and owner is Swifty Barnes and he was joined by three friends to crew the Beswigin on her perilous shakedown. Highlights of the pleasure cruise included running aground, a collision at sea, minor leaks, and 50-knot gales, but the trip is now a fond memory.

Jumping from the briny to dry land, JimIngersoll was recently named a trustee of Kalamazoo College in the Michigan city of the same name. He continues on the board of Skid-more, thus keeping his hands and both feet in the educational world. Incidentally, Jim recently retired as Borg-Warner's vice president for external affairs, concluding 34 years with that company.

New Hampshire seems to be a mecca for the direct-mail pitch, and I was particularly touched recently to receive a handsome brochure from the "Community Hearing Aid Center - Where The Price is Nice."

The Alumni Fund drive ends on the 30th of June, so if you haven't participated, please do and nail down another Green Derby for BillEnos.

Incidentally, this column is getting shorter and shorter, but a note from you can solve it!
