Greetings of the new year to you all. Susan and I want to wish you all a very happy 1982. (I still can't figure out what happened to 1981. Are the years going by faster?) For those of you who took the time to send in your dues, your class officers want to give a special thanks. To those of you who are about to, please take the two seconds and get them in the mail now, so you can say to yourself, "Well, I got it over with."
David Hope and his wife Winnie, on July 22, became the parents of a daughter, Yvette LeFevre, in Bryn Mawr, Pa. Yvette is their second child, the first being Henry Richard (now three and a half years old). Regards to David and Winnie and the two.
Barry Pressman recently changed jobs. On December 1, he became director of neuroradiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was recently re-elected treasurer of the American Society of Neuroradiology. He is presently serving on the Medical Advisory Committee of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee and is vice president of the Bay District of the Los Angeles County Medical Association. He has two lovely daughters (ages eight and 12).
Again on the medical front (as opposed to back), Harold Weiler writes the following: "During the 1980-81 academic year, the Navy sponsored me for a fellowship in cornea disease at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and upon completion of my year, I returned to the Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va., where I was made chief of ophthalmology. In August I was promoted to captain. The best news, though, is that in June I married a most delightful young lady, Sherri, and brought her back home to Tidewater. Regards to all."
Now for some news on the academic front (as opposed to back). Chris Palmer represented Dartmouth at the inauguration of Daniel Perlman as the seventh president of Suffolk University in April. John Rose was the Big Green representative at the Centennial Convocation at the University of Connecticut in September. And finally, Ebney Camp was the Dartmouth envoy at the 125th anniversary convocation at Birmingham Southern College in March of this year. Let us all shout Wah-Hoo-Wah or yippee or whatever the new Dartmouth cheer is. (How about Ho-Hum! Give me a H....., give me an O....., etc. What have you got? Ho-Hum!) Bye.
(Oh, again, please send your dues and some news, also your views, about the Dartmouth symbol you wish to choose.)
