Return to the source! The class of 1957 will celebrate its 25th reunion June 17, 18, 19, and 20. It's not too late to decide to join us. Contact Dan Goggin, who's chairing the reunion, at 24 Brentwood Road, Chelmsford, Mass. 01825, or call 617/838-7000, and' make arrangements for you and your family to participate in what is expected to be a super weekend.
Pete Buswell will be there. Pete heads North American Steel, a company he took over in 1976. When I last talked with Pete he was in the process of tracking down Charlie Tseckeras for some architectural advice in regard to a large tract of undeveloped land overlooking the harbor in Gloucester, Mass.
One of Peter's roommates, Marty Anderson, is also expected to be on hand for the festivities, having recently resigned his post on President Reagan's White House staff. At reunion time, Marty will be in transition back to an academic career at the Hoover Institute at Stanford University.
Bob Bennett phoned recently to find out about the reunion and whether or not he might be welcome to attend. Bob is, technically, a member of the class of '5 5, but he went into the service after his sophomore year and then returned to Dartmouth to be graduated with the class of'57. Because he spent his final two years with us, Bob feels he knows more 's7s than he does '55s and very much wanted to join us at our 25th. Bob will be coming from San Jose, Calif., for the reunion, and I suggest that, if Bob is willing, we adopt him into the class of '57,
Bill Gallagher writes from Taif, Saudi Arabia, that he will "return to the source" in June. Bill is chief of dermatology of a 300-bed hospital in Taif, a city of 100,000 located in the western section of Saudi Arabia, approximately 50 miles from Mecca. Bill is enjoying the opportunity to deal with skin diseases not normally encountered in the West such as leprosy and with other assorted tropical diseases.
In the summer, the royal family moves to Taif to escape the heat of Riyadh and the Taif hospital then becomes immensely involved in the care of the huge "exended" royal family.
Bill is taking advantage of travel opportunities during his relatively brief stay in Taif, and finds that even a New Englander can adjust to the customs, diet, and climate. Believe it or not, Bill is not the first Dartmouth '57 to be associated with Al Hada Hospital. Grover Farrish was chief of medicine a year or so ago as part of a team that opened the hospital and cared for the King. Bill hopes Grover will be at the 25th so they can compare notes on their adventures in the Middle East.
In the true Dartmouth tradition of hospitality, Bill offers bed and board to classmates passing through the area (on the way to Mecca!). Bill suggests you drop in and say "Mirhaba" and says, "We'll sing a few Dartmouth songs and drink near beer."
David A. Jenkins was recently sworn in as a Superior Judge in Vermont. This is the second time Governor Snelling has selected Dave for a judgeship. Dave's private practice was spent in Burlington, Vt., where he was a member of the firm Hoff, Wilson & Jenkins.
W. Robert Wilson has been appointed vice president, marketing, for Nieco Division, NIP Corporation. Bob will direct marketing and advertising operations for the line of automatic food service equipment produced by Nieco. Bob is also on the teaching staff at Golden Gate University. He and his family reside in Kentfield, Calif.
Hey — what do you think of our 25th reunion yearbook, From the Source. A really great presentation. Thank you, Tom Schwarz, for a tedious job extremely well done.
Our 25th reunion is now close at hand. Don't miss the action. Return to the source June 17, 18, 19, and 20!
