John Cusick, new to Chicago with A.T.&T., claims he was taken advantage of in digging up news for the ALUMNI MAGAZINE "Shelly(Kjellenberg) had seen one of my more famous stories published in Cavalier," he writes, "and suggested we get together to discuss pride of authorship over a drink or two. The drinks led to a professional comparison of literary efforts. My story was called 'Come Back, Shane.' Shelly's was 'Legal Opinions to Third Persons in Corporate Transactions' and appeared in the January issue of The Business Lawyer, an official ABA publication." "No contest," John claims. " The Business Lawyer doesn't even have pictures." So much for John's help. Let the Class decide.
The get-together resulted in some news, however. We learned Carolyn and BobSlaughter have two telephone lines to their home 'cause Carolyn gabs so much. Bob recently received his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Executive Program and, as a vice president (marketing officer) of Marsh & MacLennan, was named administrative manager of the Chicago office. They have been in close contact with Dot and Ken Rakouska from Minneapolis. Ken and son Kenny toured Australia last summer.
Jim Donnelley was recently elected to the Board of Directors of R. R. Donnelley and Sons, one of the nation's largest printers, and Tom Donohoe was recently named partner in charge of the Midwest Region for Price Waterhouse & Co. Warmest congratulations to both!
Char and Staff Krause participated in the January Dartmouth tour to Peru. It's reported Staff clawed his way to the top of the Andes muttering "el burro es un animal muy importante," which is all he could remember from his Dartmouth Spanish. Staff is vice president and treasurer of Housing Systems, Inc. in Rochester, N.Y., and is active on the Board of Governors at nearby Canandaigua Yacht Club. It was there that he recently hosted Eric Kinzel, who was in town for two performances as guest conductor of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Eric and wife Brunhilda have just completed their dream house on Swans Island Maine.
