Bill Colehower's formidable group of class agents is hard at work on this year's Alumni Fund campaign. Jack Nason reported in his recent letter to each classmate concerning the campaign that 1959 "has geared up considerably for this year's effort. ... we now have twice the volunteers we had last year. ... I appeal personally to each of you to make a special effort this year to be certain to contribute and to contribute as substantially as you can." Now is the time for all of us to rise to the occasion — let's make it the best showing ever in terms of dollars and participation!
From Boston comes word of Dave Robinson, who is thriving in his photography pursuits. "I recently had two weeks in Washington photographing for I.B.M. and two weeks in Mexico to do an article on Mexican photographers for American Photographer (even managed to take wife Carol on that trip). Current and future shows include New York City (Artists Space), Boston (Lopoukhine Gallery), and Milan, Italy." Dave wonders if anyone has heard from James Garfield DeMarco recently, since he has lost touch. Any clues?
Bill Truex is living in Burlington, Vt.. where he is president of Alexander and Truex, De Groot Inc., architects. Sadly, Bill reports that his ten-year-old son, Eric, died of aplastic anemia three years ago; surviving son Scott is now a junior in high school and doing very well. "Scott placed eighth in the Vermont State Schoolboy Nordic Skiing Championships this year and I expect his senior year could be a good one for him. I have focused my efforts on expanding an architectural practice beyond the limits of Vermont for the past two years. Currently we are designing buildings in Miami. Richmond, and Boston as well as in the states of Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire.
The William G. Longs continue to enjoy living in London, where I have been on assignment with Russell Reynolds Associates for the past two years, receiving '59 class communistions via our New York office pouch. We have been pleased to greet several classmates from time to time. Among these is John Goodrich, who has been living in England for the past several years and now is a principal in his own firm, EuroAm Management Services Ltd. John describes EuroAm as a firm which provides Preject management services to mainly American Qil and gas companies in the North Sea, though his work has taken him to the Middle East and other countries such as Spain. John lives outside London in Cobham, Surrey, with wife Mary Ann (Smith '59), a daughter, and a son Another recent visitor has been Chris Cundy, treasurer of North American Philips Corporation based in New York City. Chris spent a week in March visiting Philips' parent company in Eindhoven, Holland, and then stopped for a few days in London to touch base with the financial community. Chris and his wife Janice live in Ridgewood, N.J., and have three daughters, the oldest a freshman at Mount Holyoke.
Sig Ginsburg continues to enjoy his role at the University of Cincinnati, where he is vice president for finance and treasurer. "All goes well in Cincinnati except for the difficult financial problems facing the university and all of higher education. I have had over 50 articles published in the field of management and in addition to my job as v.p. for finance and treasurer, I am also adjunct professor of higher education and of business administration. In addition, I spend some time talking about management before professional meetings and have appeared on radio and T.V. My second book came out a few months ago: entitled Management: An Executive Perspective."
Hats off to Dave Gavitt and Rudy La Russo, both having been highlighted in the New York Times recently. Dave was cited for his role in conceiving the Big East Basketball Conference, which he now serves as commissioner in addition to his duties as athletic director at Providence College. Rudy was honored as the only member from Dartmouth to make the Ivy League Silver Anniversary All-Star Basketball Team, recognizing the first 25 years of the formal Ivy League competition starting with the 1956-57 season and extending through the 1980-81 season.
I recently had an opportunity to chat with Van Pine, who is now serving as full professor in and is chairing the Sociology Department at the State University of New York at New Paltz. He also consults in statistical analysis and conducts appraisals of businesses. On the family front, he comments: "Pat and I were married in 1974, both for the second time. Her two daughters and my three sons joined ranks and now all of the off-spring are in college, two at the University of Vermont. Pat has worked as a county commissioner in the field of aging and serves as a regional health planner. We have restored an 1873 Victorian house doing all of the work ourselves; this has involved us with several national preservation groups and has been great fun." Van has also been the "major domo" behind our class project, which has involved a very successful and well-received lecture/speaker series presented by various classmates to the class of 1984. Congratulations, Van, on a most successful endeavor, one which Will take us through to our 25th reunion in 1984, when the class of 1984 graduates.
On the subject of our 25 th, Bob Czelusniak has agreedd to chair the reunion, and he will be supported by Dick Press on attendance, Andy DuBoff as treasurer, and others to be announced.

Einar Kloster reports from Oslo that he and his wife Betty are moving to Sao Paulo, Brazil, where Einar takes over as chief executive officer of Philips do Brasil. "This is indeed an interesting promotion, since we employ more than 17,000 people in Brazil at 12 factories which all operate at a high level of activity to support our other South American organizations."
