I'll end the news for the summer months with a brief but meaningful note from Frank Couper, our head agent, who sent an example of one of the many payoffs of being a class agent ... in this case, the stirring of fond memories. Frank spoke with Don Middleton, now in Pittsburgh, who spoke of the time he had borrowed Dave Stanley's running shoes for an undergraduate race. Dave, now in San Francisco, told Don that the shoes had never lost! Sure enough, Don won the race and to this day wishes he had never returned the lucky shoes! Have you ever retired them, Dave, or are they still pounding the pavements of San Francisco?

Ah, yes, the many joys of fund-raising work are limitless, but it is work. And now is the time to thank the many class agents who have taken their time to contact classmates and to thank all of you who have risen to the occasion to support the Alumni Fund. Thank you, and have a wonderful summer!
