Your secretary has been laid up all summer. On May 14 I played 18 holes of golf (do not ask the score) and after lunch fell in the Brae Burn parking lot. Why, no one knows. However, I fractured my pelvis and was in the hospital for two weeks, then on a walker, and as I write am still on a cane. I was foresighted, because when I fell there were present my wife, my lawyer and his wife, and my medical consultant.
The Sandoes went to the Cape during the summer and had lunch with Jack Clark. Jack lives alone and, understandably, gets lonesome at times. Nick is making arrangements for our 65th reunion, which will cake place in Hanover on June 8-10. Max Norton will be treasurer of the committee. I think Max has acted in this capacity at every reunion we ever have had.
Pete Grey says his wife is making slow but sure progress as a result of a crushed vertebra. In the meantime, Pete is becoming well acquainted with a man named Stauffer. Incidentally, Bob Stecher and I used to play around with Vern Stauffer in Scottdale some years ago.
Eleanor McCrea continues to get national publicity on her winery. The latest periodical to sing her praises is Modern Maturity, which goes to the millions of AARP members. On being asked why she produces practically nothing but chardonnay, she replied, "That's what I like."
Kitty Larmon went to the Cape to celebrate Sig Larmon's birthday (his 92nd). Then she went to visit Emily Gale, as she has done for many years.
In the obituary notice about Nock Wallis, because of a printer's error, Nock's church affiliation was incorrectly stated. For years Nock was a pillar of strength of the First Parish Church. He would always attend the fall minireunion and then drive home Saturday night to sing in the choir Sunday morning.
A note from Hanover tells of the death of Mrs. Joe Eisaman. Joe died several years ago.
Helen Raynor has moved to a church home in Hartford. She does not plan to sell her house, preferring to keep it in the family. Her new address is 123 Retreat Avenue, West Hartford CT.
