William Pence, founder and director of the Telluride Film Festival, an event which the New York Times called the"most original, and in many ways most stimulating of the major film festivals," has been named the first director and adjunct curator of film at Dartmouth. He will formulate film programs and educational activities related to film, develop and maintain a feature film collection, and supervise the activities of the Dartmouth Film Society, the oldest college film society in the country. A prominent figure in the film world, Pence brings an international reputation as the driving force behind two major film festivals at Telluride, Colorado, and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
