Labor Day was certainly something of a watershed in my life this year. From a long, hot, lazy summer I've been catapulted into a frantic fall. As I write this, I'm wondering where September went and the first week of October.

In any event, I got a mailing out to 20 of you late in September, and two have responded. For a while there I was afraid I was going to come up completely dry for the November issue, but Gib Gibson and Peter Bankart saved my chestnuts. Thanks, guys.

Gib writes from Wilmington, N.C., that he and Judy recently visited New York City, where they saw Ed and Trish Henderson and learned from the Hendersons that Dick Sidell is an orthopedic surgeon in Chicago. (That may be double hearsay, but I'll even settle for news that's 100 percent inadmissible in court!) Gib continues that he and Judy "went on to Westport, Conn., where we sailed in the J-30 North American Championship Regatta, finishing tenth out of 29 boats, during the same time in which the Australians were converting the America's Cup into the Australian Plate."

Peter writes: "My wife Brenda (to my knowledge the second oldest female graduate of Dartmouth) and our son Charlie (age 12) have recently returned from a year in Tokyo with Waseda University. Brenda and I are both professors of psychology (Dartmouth Ph.D.'s) at Wabash College, where for a number of years we worked under Thad Seymour. We also run the student counseling service. We try to make a yearly trip to Moosilauke to see Jack Noon '68.. and Al Merrill. We stay in touch with Rick Decker, who is teaching math at Hobart/William Smith College and with Bob Morton, who is with Texas In struments (I think)."

How about it, Bob? Care to confirm or deny? Go ahead! Send details!

Actually, it wasn't just Gib and Peter who saved my chestnuts this issue. The College clipping service came through like the cavalry, two days before deadline, with two items:

Firstly, Curt Anderson was married last summer to Deborah Anne Shanley of Dover, Mass., according to the August 7 edition of the Boston Globe. Curt is president and general manager of Sonitrol of Boston Inc., and Deborah practices law with the firm of Murphy, Lamere and Murphy. Our congratulations to the newly weds.

And lastly (but far from leastly), Ellis Regenbogen has been appointed deputy general counsel of Columbia Pictures Industries Inc. In addition to continuing as corporate secretary, Ellis will supervise all East Coast legal affairs for Columbia as well as administration of the company's East Coast legal department, He joined Columbia in 1979 as assistant general counsel and was appointed associate general counsel in 1980 and corporate secretary in 1981.

And thus endeth the news for November, friends. Watch your mail for one of my neat little questionnaires. If you get one, for heaven's sake fill it out and put it in the mail. If you don't, feel free to write me a letter and complain, but while you're complaining tell me all about yourself and any classmates who may cross your mind.

Those of you who've received questionnaires and have not responded have obviously not done so because you lost the handy postage-paid return envelope. Write me a long letter and I'll send you another, I promise...
