The following two items penetrated the haze of midsummer in Berks County, Pa., and crossed my desk within the past few weeks:
First, from Rabbi Gary Atkins, a note: "We are making aliyah to Israel in August. My wife, seven children, and I will be living in the Galilee region (northern part) near Carmel. Anyone passing through is invited to visit."
And, from the College clipping service, an item from an unspecified newspaper about Tom Rath. It seems Tom, as an exattorney general of New Hampshire, has been an active and highly visible advocate for Dartmouth in the state legislature. This year, he is focusing his attention on plans for a new state psychiatric hospital, to be run jointly by the Dartmouth Medical School and the Concord Hospital. In 1981, Tom was instrumental in securing the passage of a bill authorizing the issuance of tax-free bonds to fund low-interest student loans, an initiative in the wake of which some 15 other states have since followed suit.
The 1985 summer vacation season will be over in six weeks. I hope all of you are having memorable adventures and that many of you will share them with the class through your ever-faithful etc., etc.
