By now there is yet another class ready to set foot in the cold, cruel world and watch its class column progress towards the front of the ALUMNI MAG. Maybe I'll have to pull aside 1983's newly-appointed scribe and brief her or him on what to expect: First, news about jobs, trips to Hanover for football games, and, of course, the initial round of weddings. After about three years, some on personal stationery, describing promotions, grad school graduations, and the first members of the class of 2005 or so. Then the mail will settle down fewer wacky adventures, more corporate advancements, several starter homes, and numerous offspring. That's about where we '76ers find ourselves now.

However, some of us continue to sample exotica wherever possible. Lufthansa's in-flight stationery brings news from Mike Montgomery. His communique was probably penned during a flight in furtherance of his duties as president of Arco Solar Europe, a subsidiary of (you guessed it) ARCO. According to Mike, Arco Solar is responsible for the sales and marketing of photovoltaic modules which are an integral part of the solar generation of electricity. Mike hopes that solar electricity will provide the Third World with light and water that could vastly improve the lives of millions of people. He's based in Milan and travels extensively throughout the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. Mike's address in Milan is Viale Papiniano 2, 20123 Milano, Italy, and he welcomes all who pass by to give him a call. Apparently Mike is not our only international traveler; he had the dubious distinction of running into Joe Dempsey on a Stockholm-to-Helsinki flight in March. Reportedly Joe is happily mar- ried and living the fast life as an investment banker.

Still another foreign correspondent, JohnKeitt, reports that Bob Buckholz and his wife, Lizanne Fontaine '77, have moved to London from New York. Bob is practicing in Sullivan and Cromwell's London office while Lizanne enjoys a leave from another law firm, Rogers and Wells, to oversee the activities of their new son, John. John Keitt also reports seeing the aforementioned Mr. Dempsey as he cavorts around Europe for Merrill Lynch Money Markets Inc. J. D. recently graduated from Tuck (or conned someone into believing, he had) and is based in New York.

One or both of my readers (hello, is this microphone on?) may recall that last month I mused about what Dave Shribman does on slow news days at the New York Times. Well, I got my answer. Dave was recently sighted on the Hanover Plain speaking to undergraduates about careers in journalism (the College wanted yours truly to speak, but I had to sort socks that day). Dave, who's constantly tried to mold his career after mine, has had great success nonetheless; his byline appears regularly in the Times and those of you who catch his articles, I'm sure, find them very well written.

Lastly, rumors persist of certain outlandish goings-on. According to my sources, John Reidy is not the mayor of Charlestown yet, but he has persuaded a terribly tolerant young lady to see him on a regular basis. Also, rumors of "Pistol" Pete Cowan's impending nuptials persist. Word is that as soon as Pistol's intended graduates from high school, they'll tie the knot (and I thought we'd all gotten dull and boring).

That is it for this year, campers. How about taking time at some point between now and the autumnal equinox to drop me a line? I'd really appreciate the news. Till then, so long, adios, and enjoy the summer.
