It's nice to be in print again after the summer, and I am sure you are all eager for news of your classmates. Unfortunately, few of you have sent me any materials on what you have been doing so I have only a few items to report. My columns will be due on the 15th of each month for publication about 60 days afterward, so if I receive news from you before the 15th of the month, it can go in my next column.
Congratulations are first in order to all of you who worked on the Dartmouth Alumni Fund. Through your efforts, we received a letter from the Alumni Fund indicating that we had broken the record for a class 14 years out. Through June 28 our class had raised $55,711 from 381 donors. This was considered a great performance. As I wrote in my last column, we were really hoping that we could achieve success on our own terms through individual participation and contribution without gimmickry. You have proven that it can be done our way.
As to news I have received a copy of a notice in the Sheridan Wyoming Press showing our classmate, Kim Cannon, amongst a group of polo enthusiasts, including winners of the Oliver Wallop Cup this year. I am afraid that the picture won't reproduce well enough to include it with this column, but I assure you that Kim rightly seemed pleased with his accomplishments.
Congratulations are also in order to Mikeand Sharon Rubens who have the joy of a "beamish boy," one Craig Michael Rubens, who arrived June 7, 1984, weighing in at seven pounds, two ounces.
I received a lovely note from Louise andSandy Ferguson with a picture of Andrew, who appears to be a very active eight months old. Louise indicated that he is now crawling, much to the delight of his parents. I am sorry that we are not allowed to print baby pictures, or I would share the picture with you all.
I have word that our classmate Bob Payne has taken a fine new position with William Blair, a Chicago investment banking firm. Bob had been with what was then She arson/ American Express, serving as an investment banker in their Chicago office.
Please don't forget about sending me the news which makes this column interesting to all. My address is listed each month at the top of this column for your convenience.
