Our mini-reunion at the Norwich Inn took place on the weekend of September 21-23 and was, as usual, a success. Only the football team failed to cooperate. Despite the fact that both the Dick Morins and the Robin Robinsons were sojourning in England, thereby reducing the local contingent present, we had 12 classmates, eight wives, and five widows on hand for all or part of the festivities. This was a substantial increase over 1983, and reservations have already been made for next year at the Norwich Inn. Write directly to the Inn no deposit needed until July.
Those present were Chinee and MargaretAllen,, Don Bartlett, Wes and Helen Blake,Fred and Connie Briscoe, Stan and BarbaraChittick, Ken Davis, Dave Dyche, DanaHaskin, Harry and Francis Holmlund, Rollieand Edna Taylor, Pete and A1 Wheatley, Edand Betty Window, and widows CharlotteBlodgett, Mary Bridge, Doris Coyle, LoisHersey, and Polly Hartshorn.
Our two dinners at the Inn were excellent. The absence of a formal program contributed to a good mix and plenty of conversation. On Saturday morning we had successively a class executive committee meeting, sitting also as a special committee appointed by Chinee to pass on leftover business from our 60th. This was followed by a general class meeting. As I understand the details will be covered in the "24 Hour Notice," I won't try to summarize. Special mention should be made, however, of the election of Polly Hartshorn as cochairman with Beatie Adams of the widows program.
Thanks to Ken Davis for the information that David Bullis, who graduated cum laude in '84, is the grandson of Charlie and MaryBelle Wood. Ken thought that David's father was also a Dartmouth man, but inquiry from Mary Belle records that his father was actually a Brown graduate. David is now at Dartmouth Medical School.
I am sorry to report two additional deaths this month. Robert Shaw Wilkinson, M.D., who went on to Harvard Medical School and whose obituary, written by his son, Dr. Robert Shaw Wilkinson Jr. '50, will appear in this or a subsequent issue. Bob's brother, his son, and two of his grandchildren followed him to Dartmouth. The confines of space did not leave room for many other fine things which should have been said about Bob's life and his service to humanity. Last minute word has just been received of the death of SamuelRalph Roberts.
