Back in 1986 the class began consideration as to the disposition of its surplus cash funds. A proposal was received from the College's office of Career and Employment Services that we set up, at the time of our 65th Reunion, a fund of $15,000 to establish the "Class of 1924 Public Service Career Panels" to enable the College twice each year to invite four to six individuals who work in the public sector to come to Dartmouth to participate in a panel discussion for interested students about career opportunities in public service. The unanimous vote of the executive committee in favor of this proposal was followed by a mailing to the entire class which resulted in a vote of 60 to 2 in favor. Accordingly, the $15,000 was turned over to the College at our 65th Reunion.
It is a pleasure to report that the first panel discussion has now taken place with Four distinguished panelists representing the public-service sector, and with active questioning by the student audience and subsequent favorable feedback from the students who attended and participated. The only other news is that everyone is so busy, healthy, and happy that no one had a minute to write to the class secretary.
