Seth Levy 'BS of Chevy Chase, Md., has captured the Ivy League men's individual gymnastics title. Levy, a computer science major, won the championship with an all-around score of 52.95 an Ivy League record.
It was the second time Levy has won the Ivy championship. He also claimed the crown as a freshman. A serious shoulder injury forced him to miss his entire junior season, but he slowly worked himself back into shape. Coach Keith Van Winkle said few college gymnasts have the determination necessary to come back from an injury like Levy did. "It's a real nice story," says Van Winkle. "The recovery took a long time, and he had to work very hard. It wasn't until the last two meets this season that he could perform all of his moves. All of it makes the Ivy League title very satisfying; he deserved it."
Van Winkle called Levy the best gymnast Dartmouth has ever had. Levy scores around 9.0 (on a scale of 10) in all six events. "He was up there with the best the day he walked through the door as a freshman, and he's gotten a lot better since then," says Van Winkle. Levy is the son of Joel H. Levy '57.
