As winter hangs over us in the Midwest, I find it refreshing to write of classmates' endeavors which exhibit variety and spontaneity. Especially inviting is John Jennings's trip overseas. This fall John left for a six-month excursion to New Zealand, Fiji, New Guinea, Indonesia, Borneo, Bali, Nepal, and, if time and money permit, China. This is a career exploration trip to investigate overseas architectural work and international development projects.

Maxwell Anderson has received notice in The New York Times lately as the assistant curator in the department of Greek and Roman art at New York's Metropolitan Museum. Max, who received his doctorate in classical art from Harvard University, is

responsible for a new addition of 24 sculptural portraits of ancient Romans to the museum's main gallery.

Hugh Frater is attending business school at Columbia University. He writes, "Just learned how to use my HP-12C and realized that net present value of graduate school could be negative. Am hoping that market interest rates will come, down."

The mail blitz from New York continues with this note: "Yes, Jennifer "Tweety" Warren is still around, only the name has been changed to protect the public to Jennifer Leigh Warren. It's really good to be a working actress in New York City. I'm a member of the original cast of Little Shopof Horrors at the Orpheum Theatre." You are correct if you thought that that was Tweety on the cast album and in the commercial. She has also done commercials for Wendy's, Schmidt's Classic ("beer, of course"), Halls, and Atari. Those of you who are soap opera fans saw Tweety as Karen on "All My Children" last December. If you visit New York, absorb some culture by visiting Tweety at the Orpheum and catching Max's exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum.

On the opposite coast, Michael Mosher is in San Francisco doing some illustration work for Writers and Readers, a publishing cooperative. Michael's big project this fall has been to illustrate a new book, George Orwell forBeginners.

In the area of procreation, Eric and SusanSmith have deviated slightly from the norm. This past November, Zachary, seven pounds, eight ounces, and Alexander, six pounds, 13 ounces, arrived on the scene. Eric notes that these are their first and second children.

Mark Adams lives in northern Virginia and works in Bethesda, Md., at the U.S. Army Concepts Analysis Agency, where he is an operations research analyst. Mark's main area of focus is simulations of contingency force operations. Mark was just recently commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army Reserves.

John Tarantino and his family wife Pat and daughters Christen (five) and Lauren (one and a half) live in Cranston, R.I. John practices law in Providence and specializes in trial work. Recently he was named by the American Bar Association to be a faculty member for the first national seminar on defending the drunk driver. John had worked extensively in this area and authored two articles, "Radio Frequency Interference and the Breathalyzer: A Case Analysis" and "How to Get the State to Dismiss Your Case and Pay Your Attorney's Fees." John has also been appointed to the National Panel of Arbitrators by the American Arbitration Association.

Paul Ragan writes that he is now a thirdyear resident in psychiatry at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda. He often sees JonathonShuster and his wife, who just bought a house in Alexandria, as well as Randy andKaren Davis. On a recent trip to the Big Apple, Paul caroused with Chas Peos and Charles Dargan. Nancy Jackson Hodin started a job last June as director of program development for the Storytellers (a subsidiary of Doyle, Dane, Bernbach), producing TV programming for clients. Nancy has also enrolled part-time in business school at NYU.

For the past two years Steve Lentine has been practicing law in his hometown of Billerica Mass., "divorcing high school friends, keeping them out of jail for drunk driving, and voting Republican in this Democratic hotbed." Recently Steve was married to Maryanne O'Brien, a graduate of Boston College. Classmates in attendance included Gary Crone, Bill Ablondi, Otis Klupchak, Andy Wallace, Bill Poe, Roger Butler, Bill Jarrett, Tom Barnico, Dave Van Vliet, and Jim Truncellito.

A daughter, Christina Jeanette, was born to Bill and Nancy Danford last October. The Danfords reside in Milwaukee, "a pleasant city with a fine opera company and an inspiring selection of good beers." Being conveniently located between Boston and San Francisco, Bill says all classmates are welcome.

In a brief note, Carolyn Bush Luby writes that she married Jay Luby, a graduate of Trinity College, this past October. Also in October, George Ostler tied the knot with Paula E. Duprat at the Squantum Association, in Riverside, R.I.

Lastly, Jim Lloyd sent a note regarding the marriage of Peter White and Susie Wilcox, Smith '78, last August. Folks who made it to the ceremony in Hartford included Larry andJean Marie Appel, Ben and Liz Craver, BobDance, Jim and his wife Laura, Rob Sholl and his newly-announced fiancee Jill Wickham, and Garth and Lindsay Greimann. Peter and Susie live in Los Angeles, where he works for Bank of Boston International and she works for the Fidelity Group.

See you in the spring.
