Our optimistic forecast, in the May issue of the MAGAZINE, for the construction season at the Donner Summit project of the Dartmouth Outing Club of Northern California has been pretty well fulfilled. The accompanying picture shows the progress on the cabin at the end of the Labor Day week-end.

There have been a few more Club members engaged on the work this year than participated last year, but fewer trips and fewer two-man parties, which have made for efficiency in operations. If the pace can be maintained for a few more weeks we can get the roof completed and have a habitable shelter for the coming ski season. We are grateful for the help of several non-members.

The paid-up membership of the Club for this year is 49, the same as last year, but there are a number of former members still in arrears. Were they paid up there would be almost sufficient money to pay for the remaining materials necessary to complete this year's objective, and a few more new members would make up the difference.

Alan Grant '43 and his wife spent a week of their vacation at the cabin this summer, and though present accommodations are not of the best they can testify to the desirability of the site as a center for many interesting excursions afoot or by car within a few hours travel. This reinforces our oft-repeated contention that this project is more than just a ski cabin, and should therefore appeal to a larger group of Dartmouth men and their families.
