Inn names new manager
APRIL 1984

Matthew Marshall, manager of the Wellesley College Club, has been named manager of the Hanover Inn. He succeeds Robert Merrow, who managed the Inn for 11 years.

The new Hanover Inn manager is returning to a familiar area. Marshall was formerly employed by the Woodstock Inn and his wife Elizabeth, an assistant professor of physics at Wellesley, earned her Ph.D. from Dartmouth in 1980. Marshall took over management of the Wellesley Club in 1981. Under his guidance the college-owned club erased a large operating deficit and increased annual sales 200 percent. Marshall received a B.S. in geology from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's in hotel management from Cornell University. He has previously worked as resident manager of the Weekapaug Inn in Rhode Island; as a sales manager with Rockresorts Inc., owner of the Woodstock Inn; and with Hyatt Regency of Cambridge, Mass.
