The work of a real-life detective, I'm told, is far from glamorous and involves mostly routine investigation and research. Wishing to be "real-life" for a change, I decided to investigate College records to ferret out the names of '45s who are directly associated with activities of the College in the current year. The results of this research follow.

First, we can be proud to say that Lisle C.Carter Jr. is one of the 16 Trustees of the College. Next in line is Charles A. Rowan Jr., who is one of the four members of the Alumni Council representing the region which includes the southeastern United States from Delaware to Mississippi.

Now come the class officers (and I wonder how many of you can close your eyes and name them): president, John E. Leggat; secretary, the above-named gumshoe; treasurer, John C. Osborn; head agent, Victor C. SmithJr.; newsletter editor, George F. Barr; and bequest chairman, John W. L. White.

The Medical School Alumni Fund committee boasts Fletcher H. McDowell as its chairman and Donald P. Cole Jr. as a member of its executive committee. Eugene W. Wilkin is secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Orange County, Calif., while on the opposite shore in Connecticut, Homer A. Yates Jr. is job development officer of the Greenwich club. AlanFoster guards the treasury of the Alumni Association of North Florida down there in Jacksonville, while closer to home the Upper Valley club boasts of two '45s - Howard L.Hoots as its president and Alvin C. Gluek Jr. as continuing education officer. Rounding out our list of club officers are two New Yorkers: William T. Ashton, liaison officer of the Adirondacks club up there in Glens Falls, and job development officer Gilbert H. Jones of the Mohawk Valley Club in Utica.

Area enrollment directors for the College include Joseph H. Young and Andrew P.Carstensen Jr., both of whom are former Alumni Councilors. Other former councilors include Robert P. Fisher, Frank M. Hutchins, Geoffrey G. Maclay, Kenneth E. Nicholson, and the aforementioned John Osborn. Right in Hanover we have Fred Berthold, who is acting dean of the Tucker Foundation, along with Clifford L. Jordan Jr., associate director of the Alumni Fund. Cliff, incidentally, and the redoubtable George Barr form our standing mini-reunion committee.

And there you have it. If I have overlooked anyone, I can say only that I am sorry. I have received no retainer fee, have charged no per diem fee, and my expenses have been held to a 20c stamp.

You know how it.is . . . you get what you pay for.
